Any autoimmune reaction because of the vaccine would also happen when contracting the real virus with a much higher probability. Plus the mRNA vaccine only creates immunity to one protein or even only part of a protein while the real virus consists of a lot of proteins that you will gain immunity against

So, the vaccine is definitely a lot less dangerous than the virus

As far as the oversight goes, we are in the same stage as polio once was. They launched into massive oral vaccine programs. But oversight by FDA andcthe makers was so poor at the time, some people got polio from the vaccine. That is not possible now, so in that sense go ahead and vaccinate as many as possible. This will kill many. The personal risk is "our duty."

Thank you Tero. I would have thought our understanding of the human proteome would be sufficient to minimize this risk. But a quick search does suggest a huge variability in estimates of even just how many proteins/variations may be possible.

I don't think that people will die from the vaccine. Except you count the victims of armed conspiracy nuts attacking vaccination places

Did you read about the couple arrested in California for boarding a flight knowing they had covid? --creeps

The risk is very small. About as much as you smoking joints contaminated with pesticide.

I wonder if the risk is any higher if you've already been blessed by the auto-immune fairy? I've got plaque psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, and IBS that's apparently maturing into Crohn's. I really don't need another auto-immune avatar.

With the classical vaccines this would be a problem, but the mRNA based ones don't contain substances that will increase immune system reaction.

From December 1, wear a mask in public indoor spaces or face fine

Face masks will be compulsory in all public buildings, shops, and stations from tomorrow as the coronavirus law comes into effect, and people who refuse to wear one face a fine of €95. The new law provides a legal base for earlier measures and will be valid for the next three months. The penalty, just short of €100, means people who fail to abide by the rule will not face a criminal record.

Once again reading the "rag". No one can be fined as yet as it has not gone through parliament. The shop owners wont allow you in without a mask but there is no legal requirement by law. The typical Dutch way to solve the unsolvable.

From today, everyone in the Netherlands aged 13 or older must wear a face mask in public indoor spaces like stores, libraries, stations, and secondary schools. There are some exceptions for people who are medically unable to wear a mask, and for certain activities. Violators will be fined 95 euros. On Monday, some retail chains said that they would not be enforcing this rule. But according to Hubert Bruls, chairman of the Security Council, it is shopkeepers also have to adhere to the law, which means they have a responsibility to enforce the face mask rule.
