Classical music with persistent riffs

Post by Tero » Tue Oct 13, 2020 12:55 pm

what's a riff? It's the 3 or 6 note bit Barre plays between phrases that are sung. So a short bit of music. Some of them might drive you nuts.

Not a rondo. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rondo
though some rondos are equally annoying

The riff here is the piano riff, of which there are two or three versions. The main riff comes back every minute or so.

This is as riffy as Sibelius got. Once it gets to 1:30 there is no stopping those damn trumpets

Does this sound out of tune?

No.

Where is the riff? That's more like noodling.

Piano sounds fine to me most times. Harpsichord often sounds odd, as if none of it is quite right. I don't care for harpsichord as a solo instrument.
