Blew past that one, didn’t we. Are the current rate the US will hit 200K somewhere around September 11. That’s the equivalent of 67 9/11s since February.
There is a slight reduction in the death rate. I hope this means that people will continue with the masks and the social distancing.
If you’re looking at the weekend counts, they’re always lower. Rolling average has remained at +1000.

Well, people who get a darwin award that way certainly no longer have to worry about covid.

I've noticed that phenomenon. Are health bureaucrats taking the weekend off?

Yes, maybe the forms doctors fill in 24/7 get processed by office staff M-F 9 to 5

There is no agreed protocol in collecting data. How does Africa and the Americas achieve this daily feat when first world countries cant guarantee any data of quality. Guesstimations?

America's Covid count is produced by a committee of journalists and medics employed by The Atlantic. Government agencies are also relying on this independently collated information.

If by that you mean that the number will not be an exact, perfect reflection of reality, then yes. Outside anal retentive textbooks, that doesn't happen. So, if you have a team of educated people with knowledge of maths, data processing and epidemiology giving it their best shot, then there will of course still be an error bar. The better the process, the smaller that will be, but it will not be zero. Your general tenor about this pandemic is that it is overblown, which suggests that you think (with no evidence) that there is a systematic bias in most figures, over inflating them. The consensus amongst experts is simply that, if there are systematic errors, they are in the other direction; the excess deaths comparison consistently points in that direction.

We have not got a clue about data. We have experts that love the power they have. We don't have facts we have best guesses. What numbers are they claiming to be talking about? More people have been killed on the roads already this year by far but yet this sold called "pandemic" is cranked up and up.
Just tell me Jim how do you think the African and the Americas data is collected? I cant find any reference to how it is done but we have to accept it as gospel? Like so much suspect data. It all stinks and we have no control. There is no protocol. Just left to dictators and other non-democratic governments to issue what figures they think will be suitable to get aid money.

I once was given the job by the Dutch ministry of transport to investigate one sided accidents and how they were recorded world wide. Like the Covid virus everyone had their own idea and definition. Most countries did not record them even the fatal ones.

Indeed.

What's The Netherlands' excess deaths for the five months to July Scott? Any idea?

Could not care Brian. Why should I? You are claiming everyone is telling the truth even the most corrupt country in the world and you are asking me about our data. Sorry but your country just swiped 5300 off the death toll and Belgium readjusted their figures and god knowes what is happening with the USA data in the run up to the election.
You ask me what? All i know is it is all bollocks. We were meant to have FIVE deaths. OMG five in 17 million. What a loss. Get a grip.

I suspect that, even without overt corruption in third world countries, their ability to test potential cases and causes of death is limited, due to low levels of health care infrastructure, particularly in slum-type areas. Given that, they are almost certainly underestimating their own figures, without deliberate intent. Any additional corruption by leaders would tend to minimise the figures further, so as not to alarm their people excessively.

That, combined with excess death figures, does suggests systematic bias in available world figures; this pandemic is much worse than is being reported...
