Capitalism tends towards ever-greater levels of exploitation and control, and yet we're supposed to just accept that Dutch Capitalist are the only morally sound, socially responsible Capitalists operating in a corrupt and corrupting neo-liberal Capitalist world?

There are plenty Northern European Social Democratic countries with liberal (European) capitalists. Just the UK is not one of them. With the tories in charge and hardly anything that acts as an opposition corruption has been given a free hand. All the rules have pissed upon especially the open tender system resulting in contracts being divided amongst the old boys club.

Slightly more socially progressive social policies are merely the licence fee rampant Northern European Capitalists pay to maintain control of the economy through the financialisation of the political system. So let's not pretend The Netherlands is perfect just because it's better than the UK. That's no different to claiming that the UK is perfect because it's better than Brazil.

The Netherlands is perfect because it is The Netherlands.

Take a look at the corruption index. This country is not perfect and never claimed it was. Where do you see rampant Northern European Capitalists pay to maintaining control of the economy?
Sorry "financialisation of the political system" is very much an Anglo Saxonism and applies to corrupt institutions found in the UK and USA. The UK is of course on course to be the next corrupt state of the USA. But who cares?

UK anti-obesity fight ‘at risk’ after Matt Hancock closes health agency
Experts say end of PHE agency raises doubts over national strategy

Health secretary Matt Hancock was under mounting pressure last night to say who will take responsibility for the national fight against obesity after his controversial decision to close down Public Health England caused dismay among experts.

Today shadow health secretary Jonathan Ashworth is writing to Hancock to demand answers, amid fury from campaigners and officials, who point out that it is less than a month since Boris Johnson, the prime minister, launched a national anti-obesity strategy, claiming it was crucial to the fight against Covid-19 and the nation’s health.

But last week Hancock pulled the plug on Public Health England, the body that has been responsible for fighting obesity, and announced that it would be replaced by the National Institute for Health Protection that would focus on external threats to the UK, pandemics and infectious diseases, but not inherit the public health protection roles of PHE.

How are the riots going in the Hague?
Police in the Netherlands have arrested more than 20 people after the second night of riots in The Hague.

Police say that rioters on rooftops and in the streets caused "serious nuisance" and threw eggs, stones and "heavy fireworks" at officers.

20 people you say? That sounds a lot like data. And we know we can't trust data.

They leave a government backed IOU?
The latest fad is a poverty social. Every woman must wear calico,
and every man his old clothes. In addition each is fined 25 cents if
he or she does not have a patch on his or her clothing. If these
parties become a regular thing, says an exchange, won't there be
a good chance for newspaper men to shine?
