I think religion is the last thing on peoples' minds. Just coping with everyday is more than enough for most. Church services have not resumed here. Nobody can really be bothered. In the religious pockets is where the paranoia is highest. With the way things are going (staring at the church across the road) most will be bankrupt by the end of the year.

Debating creationists was only ever something that was done for political reasons, mostly to keep those numbskulls from pushing their religion in schools, and even then mostly an American phenomena, nobodies having to defend from powerful, overly financed religious nuts in Ireland.

In science they were never contenders. If you go to any firm or institute working on cutting edge fields in biology, genetics, or paleontology with your Mickey Mouse certificate from The Baptist School of Truthology you'd get laughed out of it.

I find it curious that some of those who used Teh Powah of Rationalitee to shred and debunk creationist canards and insistences then went on to deploy their mighty intellects on shredding and debunking feminism and trans-rights activists, and political progressives in general. The 'Atheist movement' made for strange bed-fellows sometimes.
