Speaking of the RIVM (the Dutch Ministry of Health), it says here:

Google Translate renders it as saying:

The mouth mask can, with good use, reduce the risk that drops from the mouth and nose are spread to the environment. It is not a substitute for, but an addition to the applicable hygiene measures.

Basically, the Dutch Ministry of Health regards social distancing and frequent washing with soap as the best methods for inhibiting the spread of the Covid-19 virus, and the wearing of masks, including non-medical ones, as an additional measure to help contain that spread.

I don't think you should wear a mask Scot - not with your lungs. At the same time there's no good reason to be annoyed at people who do choose to wear them.

The reasons I don't like wearing them are 1) it's such a crying shame to cover up this square jaw and whiplash smile, and 2) I wear a mask when I take on my superhero persona to fight crime and do good for the community, so it's the last thing I want to do on my days off.

Now that I work from home, and get my groceries delivered, I don't have much reason to leave the house. I catch the bus to the shops about once a week. I could wear a mask for that without a problem if required. Actually, come summer I go to the beach everyday, but I'd be exempt from wearing one while riding the bike and swimming(duh).

They don't protect you, only other people from you. It creates a false sense of security. Most tests are carried out in labs.

That argument reminds me of arguments against gun ownership regulations. It is also applicable to laws concerning seat belts in cars. To wit, what is the point of such laws if they do not stop all murders / traffic accident fatalities?
