Re: US Election 2020
Why are you so touchy about people calling out racism?
Rationalia relies on voluntary donations. There is no obligation of course, but if you value this place and want to see it continue please consider making a small donation towards the forum's running costs.

Re: US Election 2020
I'm not. I called you out for it when you called me 'white'. I don't even know why you did it, except maybe it makes you feel better about insulting me or something. I don't always understand racist behaviours.Brian Peacock wrote: ↑Mon Jun 08, 2020 4:35 pmWhy are you so touchy about people calling out racism?
I'm a bit touchy about calling it so vaguely though. It reminds me very much of 'original sin', in that you can never pin it down, you just have to keep atoning.
Maybe you didn't label me 'white' as a racist shitheel act, but you haven't explained yourself any better, so I'm left guessing.
Re: US Election 2020
So, let's assume Biden dies before the election? Who's going to be the democrat candidate? Does it matter whether he has already nominated a running mate or not?
What if he'd die just a die before the election?

Re: US Election 2020
Sounds like a conspiracy theory.
Biden is the democratically chosen candidate, so they can't just switch him out without having another vote...
Unless, of course, the Democrat Party isn't all that democratic...
Re: US Election 2020
There must be some process in place
Re: US Election 2020
Last time, the process was to cheat, and make Hillary the candidate, despite the wishes of the voters.
Do you expect something fair this time? Or more clear democratic party corruption?
Biden is trying...I hear he kneeled for the racisms, and puts on a mask when fashionable. Why would you suspect he was not going to be the candidate?
Conspiracy theory?
Re: US Election 2020
I'm talking about the law. There must be a process in the law how to deal with a deceased candidate. He's old and there's still a virus around that is trying to get old people. So, no conspiracy.
Re: US Election 2020
I'm just teasing, NB. He was clearly NOT the candidate from the start, but that's nutty (until he is replaced, I mean)
I don't know the process, but I bet the people manipulating the party know those processes really well. They successfully cheated before, in front of everyone, so their 'process' isn't as important to me.
Maybe the process is clearly laid out on their site. I would check it against the wayback machine though...it's probably an evolving document.

No law. Our political parties are private corporations. The party probably has a process, but I have no idea what that would be.

Government prints the ballots, but it's not involved in choosing who would replace Biden.NineBerry wrote: ↑Mon Jun 08, 2020 8:08 pmUhm. There's ballots. There needs to be a process which names appear on the ballot. So, the law must be involved.

Uhm. There's clear cheating last go-round, with Clinton benefiting from the cheating. So, if the law is involved, it is complicit or indifferent.

A rare candidate like Obama improved turnout. It occasionally helps Democrats, likability. But republicans usually vote their guy no matter what. The independents then move right or left. Trump wore out his populist tag. He did not actually MAGA.
