I wish Crumple would come back and cheer us all up.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

His attitude is not unique. There's lots of people who literally don't give a shit...
It's not so much a matter whether Scott Dutchy gives a shit or not. In this case it was simply a logic fail. You can only start a post with "I am not going to reply anymore", the immediately launch into a 232 word reply by ignoring logic. And Scott does give a shit. If he didn't, he'd be limiting his posts to writing about the weather, saunas and stuff like that. He is just an embittered man given to seeing things in terms of black and white, cherry picking facts to suit his conclusions and generally falling victim to confirmation bias every time he attempts to think.

Thanks for the insults. A few rules have been broken here but seeing as the main person breaking the rules is the senior mod nothing of course will happen. I am not embittered so where did you get that insult from? Just a life time of experience. That some people are drinking the virus Kool Aid and then say that others who are refusing to do so are mad is beyond the pale.
I see no evidence to back any government's action. Figures that are being produced that do not satisfy any scientific criterium are being accepted as gospel. We have no facts as there is no double blind research being done.
When I ask why it is because why would governments crash economies world wide thus endangering the lives of millions of people for just 90,000 deaths?
But of course Brian's attitude is the same as the one he applies to the environment problem where he also claims a superior knowledge and never asks the question why. Also another problem quietened by this 'crisis'.
We also were given the crocodile tear stories when in this world today there are millions others already in existence.
If you think I am a lone voice then you closing your ears to the crescendo of comments and complaints being made.
Here there many people who are fed up with these Stasi style restrictions being unnecessarily applied in great sweeps over the countries making many lives almost impossible and people who want to start their businesses before there is no business left. So many are asking what is next and where are we going but people like Brian cant seem to be able to understand that this is a massive question and one far greater than the virus itself as it will affect all of us.
Our friends in Ireland are bitterly complaining about the restrictions and the appointment of a (Stasi) street warden who other neighbours are encouraged to inform him about others who are breaking the rules. The Nosey Parker's Charter it has been called. Maybe this is the society Brian secretly wants to live in?

Just stop the personal insults and come up with genuine facts and not ones spewed out by the government machine.

"We are all in it together". There are exceptions of course:

Cabinet minister Robert Jenrick visited his parents during Covid-19 lockdown
Exclusive: Housing secretary made trip despite telling public to stay home except for essential journeys
Does he know something we dont?

We dont even know where it came from. It is all circumstantial.

How did coronavirus start and where did it come from? Was it really Wuhan's animal market?
It’s likely Covid-19 originated in bats, scientists say. But did it then spread to pangolins and humans?

On the hypothesis that the virus emerged at the Wuhan live animal market from an interaction between an animal and a human, Turner says: “I don’t think it’s conclusive by any means.”

“Part of the problem is that the information is only as good as the surveillance,” he says, adding that viruses of this type are circulating all the time in the animal kingdom.

The fact that the virus has infected a tiger in a New York zoo shows how viruses can move around between species, he says. “Understanding the breadth of species this virus can infect is important as it helps us narrow down down where it might have come from.”
This of course is another "fact".

An EU accord has been reached regarding funds for the countries worst hit.

EU strikes €500bn relief deal for countries hit hardest by pandemic
Compromise reached after Netherlands relents on ‘economic surveillance’ of beneficiary nations
The fund that is being used is the ESM and not Eurobonds which we opposed. There are limits on the loans.

Brian did not say you were embittered, and saying you are embittered is not an insult. It's an unfortunate fact. I have looked up dozens of your posts at the old RDF and comparing what you wrote about democracy in the US and the UK about 12 or 13 years ago with what you have posted lately in this forum, yes, you have definitely become embittered.

Did I say Brian said I was embittered. Just why are you so interested in what I say? Comparing me to how I was must take a bit of time and why? The atmosphere on RDF was totally different and I was totally different. I had just lost my partner and since then have lost my son and mother. My health has gone severely down hill. I am not invalid but only just. I have been retired now for ten years which sadly has not been my most happy time in my life.
It is surreal. Society and the internet have changed greatly and you think that does not reflect in our thoughts?
It is just weird. Going back 12 - 13 years. I forget what I said last week. All I remember from RDF was the week long discussions with Seth over UHC and his libertarian ideas.

The UK's daily death figures surpass the highest daily totals of Spain or Italy. And what are the media talking about. Boris is out of ICU and has been for a short walk. Oh glory, for he hath risen and hath walked among us! Hallelujah!

Some on the forum are casting doubt on the reported figures, while simultaneously saying the crisis is nowhere near as bad as portrayed. I think not...
The holiday observances came as the worldwide number of deaths tracked by Johns Hopkins University hit a bleak milestone of 100,000 since late December, when the outbreak emerged in China. The number confirmed to be infected was more than 1.6 million.
The true number of lives lost is believed be much higher because of limited testing, different rules for counting the dead and cover-ups by some governments. For example, in places like New York, Italy and Spain, many victims who died outside a hospital - say, in a home or a nursing home - have not been part of the count.
