We should not remove Trump "because it could lead to violence"?

Hannity dismisses Hill as "so-called Ukraine expert," continues to push discredited theory
Unsurprisingly, Sean Hannity attacked Hill on his Fox program Thursday night. Hannity apparently thinks he knows more about Ukrainian and Russian politics than Hill, the White House's former top Russia expert. He referred to Hill as a "so-called Ukraine expert" and mocked her testimony. Hannity claimed Hill "falsely accused" Republicans of "pushing a conspiracy theory" about "Ukranian election interference." Okay, Sean...
Hannity's prime time colleagues Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham also mocked the hearings. Radio hosts like Mark Levin and Rush Limbaugh have continued to spin for Trump. And websites like Breitbart have showed no signs of turning on him. The bottom line: Trump's right-wing media wall has held.

CNN: vote by Christmas
Missing documents: But despite speaking with 17 witnesses behind closed doors, including 12 witnesses in just a week of public testimony, Democrats have not obtained crucial documents or spoken with several key officials because the White House and State Department have refused to comply with subpoenas.
That has left top Democrats with a choice: They could fight in court to obtain potential smoking-gun documents and testimony from acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former national security adviser John Bolton. Or Democrats could move forward with the evidence they have.

Re: The Trump Impeachment
You're still talking like a legitimate process is happening here. Again, who the fuck are they talking to? Who are they taking this evidence to? What on earth besides campaigning is happening here?
For this to be legitimate there has to be the chance of finding Trump guilty and removing him from office. If you want to say that you're showing the public he's guilty, then you're campaigning.
Can we just admit our government is broken? How long are we going to drag this out?

Yeah, the Democratic party and those despicable never-Trumpers should just close their eyes, lie back, and think of America.

I understand it's not easy to confront the problem. I am equally frustrated by it. But I've never advocated for doing nothing.
At the very least our government needs to recognize the problem. It is unable to fulfill its duties. They can ask why, and seek a solution. Both parties have something to gain from an impeachment process that actually works.

Re: The Trump Impeachment
I have no idea how my pointing out the awful state of our government, exemplified by an impeachment process that cannot hope to achieve its aim, makes me sound like Trump.
I said the process is not legitimate. Did you take that to mean that Trump does not need to be impeached? He does. Unfortunately, our government is broken and cannot fulfill its duties. In this case they cannot be counted on to seek the truth and to determine whether or not Trump is unfit for office.

Re: The Trump Impeachment
A better process might seek to remove or limit their responsibility for this decision. It is obvious to all of us I think that party comes before duty. Fine. You just wont have access to certain duties then. That is reasonable. People assumed, incorrectly, that they could handle these responsibilities. But it's obvious now that they cannot.

My advice would be to start by looking elsewhere for solutions. Perhaps someone else is doing this better? It's easier to steal a good idea than come up with one yourself.

Re: The Trump Impeachment
Of course it's legitimate. The unfortunate likelihood that the Republican trash in the senate won't convict him doesn't change the fact that the constitutional remedy for a rogue, criminal president is impeachment.Sean Hayden wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2019 5:47 pmI have no idea how my pointing out the awful state of our government, exemplified by an impeachment process that cannot hope to achieve its aim, makes me sound like Trump.

No, it's not legitimate. It could be made legitimate by restoring confidence in its ability to contest the question adequately.Seabass wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2019 6:19 pmOf course it's legitimate. This may be helped by amending the process and or players involved etc.
I hope we don't have to pretend that a solution must be ready before criticizing the process.
