The fake news industry

Post by Tero » Tue Nov 19, 2019 9:36 pm

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/201 ... newspapers

The unusual effort in Hinsdale – which ultimately failed when Hinsdale voted yes to the $140m funding, was one of the more strident examples of what appears to be a sweeping effort to populate the country with local, rightwing-skewed news sites.

Locality Labs operates scores of sites across Illinois, Michigan, Maryland and Wisconsin, often sharing content. In Michigan alone, the Lansing State Journal reported, almost 40 sites opened in one fell swoop this fall.

It would be illegal in a civilized country.
I was given a year of free milkshakes once. The year passed and I hadn’t bothered to get even one.

It's not illegal, therefore there's nothing wrong here.

If it were just TV or AM radio, most people would recognize it as a sort of entertainment. Not humor, just a sort of thing for enforcing your conpiracy theorist mind.

Thank you Hermit.

I know football supporters have problems with that. "Holland Holland" fits better than "Nederland Nederland". Mind you in the hockey world the latter is always preferred. There has to be a difference of course. :smug:

Yep in Noord and Zuid Holland it is very much so. Historical. "Wij Hollanders"... "Spreek je Hollands?". "Je hebt wel een Hollands tongue in je hoofd?" Are typical Hollands sayings. Another one I like and is totally untranslatable: "Gezellig Hollands". You could write a book about that.
