...or is it Black the Diddler?
Lord Black of Crossharbour, the former owner of The Daily Telegraph, has said that he intends to return to the House of Lords after President Trump granted him a pardon.
The peer spent more than three years in jail in the United States after being convicted of fraud and obstruction of justice in 2007. He was found guilty of plotting to siphon off millions of dollars as chief executive and chairman of the Hollinger International media group. He was released in 2012.

Can anyone please explain to this ignorant African how this can happen?

Because a pardon apparently now means you didn't actually do it. And Lordships are for life.
Rationalia relies on voluntary donations. There is no obligation of course, but if you value this place and want to see it continue please consider making a small donation towards the forum's running costs.
Details on how to do that can be found here.

OK, but is a pardon in the US valid in the UK?
Also the life thing can be sorted after Brexit since the UK can re-introduce the Death Penalty. I'm sure they can find a law somewhere that hasn't been repealed.
