And corroboration of another piece of the Steele dossier, a somewhat salacious one at that.

So, do they just learn the ins and outs of the thing and use it to embarrass Trump during the campaign or try to impeach him? Republicans have made it perfectly clear that they intend to defend Trump no matter what.

I vote for embarrassing the hell out of Trump from now till election day.
The latest fad is a poverty social. Every woman must wear calico,
and every man his old clothes. In addition each is fined 25 cents if
he or she does not have a patch on his or her clothing. If these
parties become a regular thing, says an exchange, won't there be
a good chance for newspaper men to shine?

I don't think Trump can be embarrassed, but that would be better than an impeachment.

A year and a half later, the scapegoating has begun. Mr. Trump and his surrogates began attacking Mr. McGahn shortly after the report by the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, revealed he was the chief witness to the president’s attempts to undermine the inquiry. In an interview on Monday, a member of Mr. Trump’s legal team challenged Mr. McGahn’s motives and memory and accused investigators of ignoring inconsistencies in his assertions.

“This is a cross-examination a law student could perform — by the time he’s finished, you would come to the conclusion he’s hopelessly confused” and would be “shaking,” Rudolph W. Giuliani, the president’s personal lawyer, said of Mr. McGahn’s interviews with investigators.

I just came across a searchable version of the report, if anybody might find that useful. Myself, I'm still working my way through it the old-fashioned way.

I don't think the unredacted version, code-named Mueller Genuine Draft, is publicly available yet.

If the House Democrats get their hands on it, we'll see it in bits and pieces as it leaks.

Oh, I can tell you about them. They're an insurgent faction of nihilists devoted to deathly black humour, secret worshippers of Yog-Sothoth. Quite mad, the lot of them.

Salon interview with a scholar:
How would you explain to the average person the threat that Donald Trump embodies to them personally, especially with his "national emergency"?

I would highlight the fact that among the statutes that are triggered by the declaration of a national emergency is that the president can control the internet. He can take over the media. The president can arrest people without cause. Under a national emergency, Donald Trump can basically declare what amounts to military law and become the dictator that, in his dreams, he imagines himself to be.

That is scary. This horrible outcome does not happen overnight. The earliest invocations of the emergency powers may look a little bit innocent. But authoritarianism creeps. It doesn't always gallop. And when authoritarianism envelops us, it may be too late to turn it back.

In this moment, what gives you the most hope? What are you most afraid of?
