What are you even arguing, rainbow? Do you agree with something? Disagree? Why or why not?
“When I was in college, I took a terrorism class. ... The thing that was interesting in the class was every time the professor said ‘Al Qaeda’ his shoulders went up, But you know, it is that you don’t say ‘America’ with an intensity, you don’t say ‘England’ with the intensity. You don’t say ‘the army’ with the intensity,” she continued. “... But you say these names [Al Qaeda] because you want that word to carry weight. You want it to be something.” - Ilhan Omar

Re: Should Communism Be Declared A Criminal Ideology?
I thought I had made myself clear.
Communism has not existed, and may never exist in the way Marx imagined it.
The question is therefore a silly one, and trying to perpetuate a silly argument is silliness.
Now don't you feel like a complete twat?

Re: Should Communism Be Declared A Criminal Ideology?
There have been a few specks of communism but not on a country wide scale. Socialism on the other hand is still very much going even though many capitalists attempt to remove it.

Re: Should Communism Be Declared A Criminal Ideology?
Really? How do you think Marx imagined it? With industrial armies, no families, no freedom of religion, babies raised in common, enforced uniformity and distribution of population over the countryside, elimination of private property, elimination of business for profit, and to each according to his need, from each according to ability?
You think you've made sense, then? Interesting.

You have read Das Capital, I assume, so you'd know. Why are you asking me?

Re: Should Communism Be Declared A Criminal Ideology?
Das Kapital does not describe how Marx imagined a communist system to be.
As for why I'm asking you - that's because you're engaging in this conversation and expressing a viewpoint, or trying to do so. One might reasonably surmise that you would know something about that which you are so vociferously opining.

Capitalists always fail. It is never sustained growth always boom and bust which is not good for the workers. The shareholders could not care less.

"8) Equal liability of all to labor. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture" - Marx/Engels, Communist Manifesto, Chapter II, pg. 26. It's one of the "despotic inroads" Marx envisioned would be needed in advanced economies to "wrest control" of the means of production and property from the bourgeoisie.

Re: Should Communism Be Declared A Criminal Ideology?
Direct quotes for what? YOU said that communism had not been tried in the manner Marx envisioned it. YOU said that. I asked you to clue me in on what YOU thought Marx imagined. YOU cited Das Kapital. Das Kapital does not contain any summation or quotes related to what Marx envisioned communism would be like or how he imagined it to be. It's a critique of capitalism. Most scholars believe he planned a volume to be added to the Das Kapital series that would explicitly lay out his imaginings in that regard, but he never wrote it.rainbow wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 4:22 pmSo you have no direct quotes.Forty Two wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 4:18 pmDas Kapital does not describe how Marx imagined a communist system to be.
