Yeah, I gave them my ID as they never know how to spell it and find the line. Though it is by last name only. about 90% at our poll vote with no ID, and they only check the signatures. A vote is already in the box with other votes so mismatched signatures are only a statistic they collect.

I read Beto and Cruz is close 42, and early voting turnout has already surpassed the total turnout for the 2014 midterms! That's never good news for Republicans eh?

I can't get it out of my head that the black voter turnout was amazing for Obama in 2008, and then shit for the midterms in 2010, and then again awesome in 2012, and nowhere in sight again in 2016.


How does that comport with you and everyone else saying the reason for low voter turn out among minorities is voter suppression by Republicans?

I'm more inclined to believe the low voter turnout is due to distrust in the system so that even when the opportunity to vote presents itself, there is a real problem of getting minorities to believe it's worthwhile. Combine this, which has really been understated by me, with the back-breaking authoritarianism minorities live under e.g. significantly more likely to be over policed and imprisoned, and you remove the need for in your face voter suppression.
