My apologies.
I understand now, that 'clapping ' is newspeak for masturbating. It makes a lot more sense now. In crowds, even among my friends one rarely masturbates openly.

OK, seriously, now: Read my post again. I challenge you to find a single word in support of replacing applause with jazz hands. I was venting against the RWNJs from the first letter to the last full stop.
