Scientist angers audience with views on women in physics
A senior scientist has given what has been described as a "highly offensive" presentation about the role of women in physics, the BBC has learned.
At a workshop organised by Cern, Prof Alessandro Strumia of Pisa University said that "physics was invented and built by men, it's not by invitation".
He said male scientists were being discriminated against because of ideology rather than merit.
He was speaking at a workshop in Geneva on gender and high energy physics.
Prof Strumia has since defended his comments, saying he was only presenting the facts.
Cern, the European nuclear research centre, described Prof Strumia's presentation as "highly offensive".

In 2015, Nobel laureate Prof Tim Hunt resigned from his position at University College London after telling an audience of young female scientists at a conference in South Korea that the "trouble with girls" in labs was that "when you criticise them they cry".

Looks like somebody has mommy issues.
He's right though, one doesn't achieve scientific success or notoriety by invitation, but that's another matter.

When I was at uni, one of my best friends, a girl, knew a fuck of a lot more physics than I did...
And I know more physics than most of you snowflakes...

My first serious girlfriend, when I was about 18 was much much cleverer than me. She got straight As at school and top marks at everything. It was doomed to failure really.

My first girlfriend beat me,j she managed to get to PhD whereas I had to stop with an MA... of course, I had no means whereby to sustain myself to go on after the MA, whereas she married a don who pushed her all the way through after she dumped me.

My eldest son has a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours, like me, but youngest son Nick will beat us both with a Masters degree on top of his science degree...

I hope he can do something with it. MA's are plenty here and finding it difficult to find suitable work. An electrical engineer from the Hogerschool is worth far more these days. We need about 250,000.
