Following a seven-week judge-only trial, Justice Peter Flanagan found 2GB and Jones published 27 broadcasts which conveyed "extremely serious" defamatory allegationsBroadcaster Alan Jones, 2GB and 4BC defamed the Wagner family in a series of radio broadcasts between 2014 and 2015, the Supreme Court in Brisbane has found.

Those allegations included that the Wagner family were responsible for the deaths of 12 people, including two children, in the 2011 Grantham floods when a quarry wall owned by the family collapsed.

The court also found the broadcasts alleged that the brothers had illegally built the Wellcamp Airport and had stolen airspace from it.

It won't stop him from spreading outrageous lies. Jones has lost several defamation cases in the past.

He really is a nasty piece of work, and that is in addition to his reprehensible views.

In 1999 it was revealed that he and John Laws were paid a total of $18 million by Qantas, Optus, Foxtel, Mirvac and major Australian banks for saying very nice things about those companies on air, and without disclosing this arrangement to listeners. Laws and Jones got out of it by saying they were entertainers, not journalists.

In 1988 Jones was arrested in an underground public toilet on Broadwick Street in the Soho area of London. He was taken to the Mayfair police station and charged with 'outraging public decency' and 'committing an indecent act'. When the case was heard in the Marlborough Street Magistrates' Court the next day The Crown withdrew the more serious charge, with Jones pleading not guilty to the lesser charge of committing an indecent act. The authorities ultimately did not present any evidence to support either charge, and the second charge was also later dropped, with Jones' lawyers winning ₤70 in costs. As I do not wish to be sued, I will not suggest that maybe money changed hands and/or the arms of one or more Constables/Inspectors Plod were twisted in order to achieve a favourable outcome through extrajudicial means.

Oh, yes. In October last year Alan Jones has notched up his 206th consecutive survey win for the breakfast shift with a share of 15.3 per cent of the market. At the same time Ray Hadley, who almost equals Jones in terms of right wing vomit, sat on a share of 15.9 per cent, marking his 107th consecutive win in the morning shift that follows breakfast. In 2012 Jones alone was worth $24 million in advertising revenue to the Macquarie Radio Network.

The popularity of our right wing jocks on the airwaves and right wing op ed writers in the press makes it quite difficult for us Australians to throw stones at other countries. We have more than our fill of deplorables.
