Timothy Paul Hernandez, 32, of Mount Vernon, Washington, has been charged with first-degree murder for killing his girlfriend, Vanessa Cons.

Cons, 27, was found beheaded in a Mount Vernon bedroom with multiple stab wounds to her back and head, court documents state.

Hernandez told police that he “had spoken with God,” and God told him to “strike down” his girlfriend because she refused to repent..

To be fair, non-religious crazies have done similar things - the voices in their heads do not have to be identified as god...

But the more rigid religions certainly provide a ready-made framework for serious and violent mental illnesses to coalesce around...

Yeah, a religion that forbids cheeseburgers, steaks with blue cheese sauce and philly steak sammiches, or even finishing a nice luncheon that had a steak as the main course with a nice place of cheese... it just has to be crazy.
