Their kids "totally destroy" atheist professors by holding up a rock and saying "Can this turn into a puppy? Checkmate, atheist!"
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

No new information! --bleh, thankfully I haven't run into a single open creationist at school. There can't be too many going for a science degree.

well, I suspect that many are atheist during school, and then, later, they are struck by the vacuity of their materialist lives and become born again loons...

My cousin, now retired, but a PE teacher and all round bollock ache born againer managed to remain a YECist all his life. He’s a king sized cunt to boot.

Can't pick your family. We've got a few Babble Thumpers in our lot, no YECS but a few IDers.

I think there's a lot of truth in that. Additionally, many churches attract the lonely, simply by being a community they can join...

Yeah, I know how that second part works, my aunt became a JW just because my grandparents turned her the cold shoulder when she became an unwed mother.

The nicest thing about sociopathy is you're never lonely. There's always the heads in the freezer.

I've never once thought of turning to religion to cure my loneliness. I couldn't think of anything worse.

And yet one of the foundations of the Xian thing is ‘fellowship’, which was explained to me in my brief sojourne into that realm as a power that could overcome periods of doubt. Peer pressure in other words can overcome rationality. Well we know that of course as the fart bags that we are, but religion weaponises it.

Were you ever really serious about it, Rum? Did you manage to suspend belief?

Well I was a kid. In my late teens. I was reading science fiction too and had already travelled extensively so ‘cultural relativism’ was part of my outlook even then.

For maybe an hour every day or two I woukd say! The doubting and the uncertainty made me miserable. The bastards.

I've often wondered why some people are terminally infected and others shrug it off like a cold. I never got into it at all so I've no point of reference.
