Re: UK-US Trade Deal Thread
You can only buy in one format from one supplier and that supplier is Amazon which may be ok for English readers is not for other languages.
Why do I need to lie down? Maybe you should remove those Amazon pink glasses. Just look at the company and the way it treats its workers but that is ok for you. There are far better e-Readers than Kindle but like Apple users you dont wont to look. Never mind ethics.

Why wouldn't it be made in England? You're like 175 km from England, and you were both part of the EU. If there was a market for English made products, couldn't they just supply the local markets from England?Scot Dutchy wrote: ↑Fri Jul 06, 2018 8:10 amLook the English wanted English cornflakes and English tea. Robinson's jam and other English made stuff. It is all available made here but no it had to be English made. The Poles and Asians have very different food only available in their countries. Nothing but nothing that you can get in Britain cant be bought in Dutch supermarket only it is not made in England.

That's what happened a few years back - we lost hosts of local producers, because they just can afford the compliance costs. it's not as if the new regulations made anyone's food safer, though. It just helped the large producers squeeze out competition.laklak wrote: ↑Thu Jul 05, 2018 4:49 pmI got out of the business because of profit margins, they weren't enough for my rapacious, capitalist nature. I just wasn't doing enough volume to make it worthwhile, and in order to increase volume I'd have to be USDA registered and inspected and a whole bunch of Gummint nonsense that was prohibitively expensive. It's almost like the deck is stacked against the little guy, you know?
I love spam. The wife loathes it. On the very rare occasion where I have some time at the house on my own, I fry up some spam and make spam and cheese grilled cheese sandwiches to go with whatever is on the tube.laklak wrote: ↑Thu Jul 05, 2018 4:49 pm
Now bacon is expensive as fuck, I could be making a killing because nobody, and I mean NOBODY, sells real back bacon here. It's all belly bacon, "streaky" to you Brits, or "Canadian Bacon", which should be from the tenderloin but is generally "mechanically separated" and then mixed all up and formed into a round slice. More Spamish than baconish. Not that there's anything wrong with Spam, but call it Spam, not bacon. Or Spam, spam, spam, sausage, spam, bacon, spam, and spam.
Which reminds me, there's a can of Spam sitting in the cupboard, a leftover from Hurricane Irma preparations. I actually fancy a Spam sandwich.

Grilled Spam and Velveeta on Wonder Bread. Might as well go all in, eh?
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I also like Spam. It is very agreeable to my palate actually.

Compliance is essential in large scale food distibution. Laxer rules can apply to locally produced food.
