Re: UK-US Trade Deal Thread
don't tell me of electronic readers, I have enough problems with reading pdfs without delegating the problem to a dedicated machine... and why is amazon crap?

They only use one format and the books are never yours as they are in a cloud which Amazon empties when it thinks you have had the books long enough. The screens are small.

good points, I don't want cloud, I want hard format, which is why I support the dead tree industry.

Yep but people seem to be mesmerised by Amazon. Its kindle is a pathetic thing but it does have a considerable following like Apple.

Re: UK-US Trade Deal Thread
well, I do admit that I'm kind of an amazon follower myself, I turned to them because they let me get books I would never have found without them... heck, last summer they even let me get a new lamp that I could not have gotten any other way, and certainly not as fast (long story short, I earn amazon gift points and used some of those to get that lamp at a time I could not raise the money when the old lamp died on me)..so, while not a blind buyer, I do appreciate their generally better prices and mighty catalog.

Re: UK-US Trade Deal Thread
well, maybe I'm not well informed of what's available here, but given my reading habits, Amazon and its direct access to English language book stocks is hard to beat as far as French or English language sites go.

Easily beaten here. Amazon is a favourite with ex-pats who cant think any further. The type that went to the English grocery store, which has now shut down (lack of customers) to buy English cornflakes; "cant eat the German ones can we".

Not possible. The Americans are too stupid to get out of their own way. The more intelligent, educated, erudite and skilled Brits will take team Trump to the cleaners.Scot Dutchy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 02, 2018 7:54 amFFS quoting the Express!![]()

How will it pan out? The US screwing the UK how else.
Who, Trump? He is incompetent. He wouldn't know how to pull one over on a European.Scot Dutchy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 02, 2018 7:54 amDo you think like all Brexshitters that he is going to give a fair deal?
Oh, well, have no fear, the Brexiters are not in control of the UK. The Brexiters got lucky to win that vote, just barely, through massive propaganda campaign and lies spread about Brexit.Scot Dutchy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 02, 2018 7:54 amIf you do you a far more naive than I gave you credit for. Any one, even the honky tonk down the road can outwit him except the Brexshitters of course.
Definitely not nearly as much as the Netherlands. I hear Trump is just champing at the bit to get a nice deal done with the Netherlands. Too bad the Netherlands is tied up in the EU. That's a prize right there. If there could be a Netherexit from the EU,that would be something. Then the US could deal with a real country - powerful - with vital goods and services that the US simply can't do without. The only problem is, the Netherlands is so far and away superior to the paltry United States, that they would just run circles around Trump and the US in general. Wouldn't be long before the US capitol was Amsterdam. Ah, but for now we can only dream, and deal with such a substandard place as the United Kingdom.Scot Dutchy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 02, 2018 7:54 amWelcome to chlorinated chicken, hormone ridden beef and pork, and GM vegetables. What does the UK have to offer? Not much.
That's a good policy. Don't read.Scot Dutchy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 02, 2018 7:54 am
BTW I did not read the Arseface article. There are some things I will never do.
“When I was in college, I took a terrorism class. ... The thing that was interesting in the class was every time the professor said ‘Al Qaeda’ his shoulders went up, But you know, it is that you don’t say ‘America’ with an intensity, you don’t say ‘England’ with the intensity. You don’t say ‘the army’ with the intensity,” she continued. “... But you say these names [Al Qaeda] because you want that word to carry weight. You want it to be something.” - Ilhan Omar

I'm sure that's true. What's your best recommendation?Scot Dutchy wrote: ↑Mon Jul 02, 2018 1:45 pmThere plenty of better (in service, selection and price) here.

Re: UK-US Trade Deal Thread
A deal for the UK to import cheap US food. Food which the EU had banned because it does not meet their standard. Which means the UK lowering the standard. Then UK farmers will have to lower their standards to compete. Then the UK cannot trade with the EU because the standards does not meet the EU standards.

Standards don't matter to us British, so long as it is edible and won't kill you overnight. Only the southerners, who believe themselves half French, will be upset at American food here.
