Rising seas: 'Florida is about to be wiped off the map'

Hey lak are you more than 6 feet above sea level?

Rising seas: 'Florida is about to be wiped off the map'
Sea level rises are not some distant threat. For many Americans they are very real. In an extract from her chilling new book, Rising, Elizabeth Rush details how the US coastline will be radically transformed in the coming years

Good plan. Erase Florida, they voted Bush in. Hanging chaffs and governor.

Yeah I'm at 26 feet, in an area called "The Uplands", highest point on the coast for many miles in either direction. I went on that sea level map thing that shows you the coastline when you input a sea level rise. At 7 meters my house is oceanfront. Ka-Ching!
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

You are higher than me. We scrape in at just over 4 metres but live on a sand bank.

I'm not sure they've got this expansion of the oceans right. What's stopping the Earth's crust from expanding the same amount, under the same conditions?

That would counteract the expansion of the wet stuff by increasing the surface area of the ocean.
Wikipedia's graph shows a likely increase of about ten inches, in the next 100 years.
Or 3 more inches by 2050.

I'd be happy with that. ;)

While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.
