One of my friends at school rose quite high in some Meryl - Lynch Associates(vice-president of the london arm? or something) and then had the bad luck to escape the profession months before 2007...insider knowledge? I sometimes wonder with Tories if they genuinely think themselves to be good people doing the right thing, or if they know they are being manipulative bastards for their own gain and they just don't care. I'm sure there must be some in each group and others in between, but if you look at an individual Tory it's very hard to have any trust in their motivations.

I'm using the term "banker" loosely, but I have specific people in mind. Of course, being a law abiding citizen, I would never do such a thing.

Yeah, the bankers had nothing to do with the weakening of regulations that allowed the GFC to happen..

This is a question I've been asking for years. Given their disdain for the disadvantaged, and people who are different to them, I suspect it's the latter.
