Just sounds like you're arguing against equality for the sake of it now. Cunt too.

To go by your words, MRA folk don't exist outside of this forum.pErvinalia wrote:You're virtue signalling to your MRA buddies.
You have had ample opportunity to identify some public/celebrity MRA's, but you keep avoiding real discussion about your 'position'.
Great job on spelling words though, pErvinalia! Keep up the good work! You are doing great!
Feminism IS the patriarchy, and you help to underline that fact with every post you make! (imagine how good you would feel about your antics if your opinions were not on the safe side of politics lol)

If push comes to shove men can physically overpower women. That is generally speaking true but it is also a particularly American way of thinking about it as a bottom line.

Not exactly, but I understand how you might think so.Brian Peacock wrote:Just sounds like you're arguing against equality for the sake of it now. Cunt too.
I have a tough time explaining it to those polluted by feminism, but try to get emotion out of it and understand this...
Feminism is fighting for fair wages - but only for women. This gains my disdain not because I am against fairness for women, but because I understand that wages are in NO WAY fair at the moment, so making it 'fair' for one select group is not fair at all.
If feminism were fighting for fair wages for everyone across the board, it would likely gain support from more than just the gender studies graduates.

I'm not emotional, and feminism is about equality, not making women superior in an institutional or legal sense.

On what basis do you say this?Rum wrote:If push comes to shove men can physically overpower women. That is generally speaking true but it is also a particularly American way of thinking about it as a bottom line.
Americans think the bottom line is that men can physically overpower women?
I'm not sure what you actually mean. Could you clarify as to what you think the American way of thinking on this point is?

Re: Women on top
No, it's unfocused, vague, smoky and refuses to be defined by feminists except as 'gender equality'. Which is horseshit, to anyone living in a world where they see the feminism tag applied to SO MANY stupid things.Rum wrote:Feminism isn't a single issue issue.
Why not look at one issue, Rum? Like the wage gap. Do you think wages should be fair for women? Or for everyone?

His argument ploughs on regardless, as does yours. While you both continue to forward a strawman to argue against equality progress is impossible.Forty Two wrote:Perhaps he is, but how does that change the substance of his argument? Sorry, who was arguing against equality? Can you link to a post which lays this argument out?Brian Peacock wrote:His argument ploughs on regardless, as does yours. I don't think any two people are equal, but do think that all should be provided equal opportunities wherever possible. (in case you misunderstand me)

It does indeed! For example, comparing womens wages to a fair wage, might show that they were (or were not) paid fairly.Brian Peacock wrote:Does one necessarily exclude the other?Cunt wrote:... . Do you think wages should be fair for women? Or for everyone?
If instead, one were to compare womens wages against another group which is unfairly paid, all you are doing is showing that fair wages can produce amusing and irrelevant statistics.
If women are paid 'fairly', are we to ignore how skin colour affects wage expectations? How about height?

Re: Women on top
Well, feminism can be about whatever an individual thinks it means to them.Brian Peacock wrote:I'm not emotional, and feminism is about equality, not making women superior in an institutional or legal sense.
However, in terms of common English usage, feminism and egalitarianism are not synonymous, and it is that distinction that suggests that feminism in common usage is not merely about equality. It is the advocacy of the rights of women, on the grounds of equality of the sexes. That's not the same thing as mere equality.
The subtle difference relates to whether there are areas where men are not being treated fairly to women, whereas feminism does not concern itself where men might have the short end of the stick. Egalitarianism would relate more to equality, because it would recognize the areas where men are disadvantages (particularly in legal realms where men definitely are subjected to express disadvantages based on their sex).
If feminism was just about equality, why would anyone have needed to coin a new word? I'm an egalitarian seems quite serviceable. Yet, there is a faction out there that suggests that egalitarianism is sexist.
Here is one feminist addressing the issue -- https://www.progressivewomensleadership ... -humanism/ Note that she distinguishes between feminism and egalitarianism by saying that while egalitarianism is focused on equality of everyone, feminism is focused on equality as it impacts women specifically. Now, there is nothing wrong with that, but that does illustrate exactly why feminism is not "just about equality."

Ah, you're a heightist... now i understand... shorty.

Equal pay for equal work. It isn't a difficult concept to process, whether talking about gender, skin colour, religion, height, or taste in music.
