By the way, I know people who would love to get rid of their US citizenship but find that it is impossible, once a US-citizen, always a US citizen.

Women tend to want to "marry up" or "marry well." She was in NY, and whatever you think about Trump, Trump in New York in the 1980s and 1990s was a top guy, probably the biggest and most well known real estate developer in New York City with great successes to his name. He was powerful, and in his younger days a reasonably good looking guy, and looks tend to fall lower on the list of qualities women focus on. He was educated, rich, well-known, famous, respected, and powerful. Is it any surprise she would marry him? Having her own money reduces the pool of men she'd find worthy of her - she was super-hot, a model, with income and her own business.

Anybody could get her that. First of all, the "observer" doesn't know what he or she is talking about because nobody "gets you citizenship." What they can get you by marriage is a green card. Once you have a green card and stay married for a few years, you can get divorced and still get citizenship. She only needed to be married to an American for about three years total. Also, there are avenues for people running their own businesses, like she was, to get a green card without being married - the E-1 and E-2 - trader and investor classifications would get her a visa and then a green card without her having to get married.

This is just meanspirited speculation. They met in 1998, when Trump was like 51 or 52 years old. He wasn't balding or fat at the time, nor was he orange. And, men who have a lot of women are often attractive to a lot of women - who doesn't know the feeling that when you have a girlfriend, other girls want a piece, too?

He was a middle-aged rich guy dating a hot piece of Norwegian girl who was in her mid-20s. The guy had no problem landing women half his age. His ex wife Marla Mapes was in her 20s when they met and he was like 45 or 46.

Yes, it's "doubtful that an attractive woman would have wasted her time looking for them if he wasn't also very wealthy..." Yes, indeed. Because wealth is an indicator of an ability to provide and a badge of power. Surprise surprise that women find that, together with the ability to go out and have fun/a good time, entertainment, a sense of humor and supply a lot of cool stuff to do (meeting celebrities and such) all while living in the lap of luxury in Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue, walking distance from the Met, Central Park, Rockefeller Center, etc.

This is nothing much to really be scornful of, though. Men often are attracted to women for other women - like their looks - which is a badge of ability to bear children and health, etc., as well as a trophy to show how big and bad the man himself is - look at me, I have women like this who want me, think how awesome I must be. Like it or not, that's often what motivates men to fall in love, consciously or subconsciously.

Do most people really fall in love for the true and noble reasons of knowing the "real person" inside the wealth, looks, humor or whatever aspects of a person? Isn't the "real person" an amalgam of their qualities - looks, power, humor, intelligence, wealth, fitness, whatever - included?

It's just meanspirited to assume that you can know that Melania does not really love Donald Trump, or vice versa. Even if she was attracted to him because of his wealth and power, and even if he was attracted to him because her looks, they may well still have fallen genuinely in love with each other. They've been together for almost 20 years now, and married for going on 13 or 15 or something.
