Why you shouldn't try to reason with Trump supporters.

Pretty much why I don't engage with them. Impervious to reason, innit.

Trump unlikely to change course. He is more likely to follow the Bannon plan to replace Republicans with libertarians. The plan was to reduce the fed government in all respects except the military.
“There has to be some self-reflection at the top and how that’s spilling over in the down ballot,” Taylor said. “I know they would tout the four congressional special elections we won, that’s a little bit different. That’s a localized thing. We under-performed in places that we should have crushed as Republicans. ... When you look at tonight in Virginia and the results that continue to come in ... [our] leaders need to have some self-reflection.”

It was clear on Wednesday that Trump and his advisers were still searching for answers after the blowout on Election Day.

Trump immediately sought to separate himself from Gillespie, who lost to Lt. Gov. Ralph Northam (D) by 9 points, saying he failed to fully “embrace” what his administration stands for. Trump sought to reassure Republicans that better days lay ahead, pointing to their four special-election victories this year in the House and declaring that the economy is “doing record numbers.”

That assessment appeared to contradict the argument of his own political team that the president was not a factor in the losses.

The source familiar with the operation said if any national political dynamic affected the race, it was that swing voters backed Democrats because they were frustrated by the "lack of action by Congress" on Trump's agenda.

But the sentiments from the White House are unlikely to reassure GOP officials and donors, who fear electoral disaster awaits them in 2018.

Democrats need to flip 24 seats to reclaim the House, and it appears like that could be within reach.

So far, 29 GOP House members have announced they will not seek reelection, giving Democrats new opportunities to pick up seats.

Republicans are nervously eyeing Trump’s approval rating, which sits at historic lows at this point for a first-term president. They are also well aware that midterm elections are notoriously unkind to the party in power.

Trump is now libertarian? Hard to keep up...

The media and polls -- all wrong about Trump from July 2015 to November, 2016..... but now, approval ratings ought to be taken with all seriousness and considered right on target. I'm sure CNN is asking the the right questions in the right way in order to glean a fair approval rating, after all, they had done polling before the election which gave him about a 5% chance of winning because people did not approve of Trump as a candidate.... it's obvious that now that he is President, they'll be looking to correct what they'd done wrong in the lead up to the 2016 vote....

No, Bannon is the suggested libertarian. Trump just does what the last person in his ear (or his latest random thought bubble) tell him to do.

Oh, right. Yes. The "real" president isn't the boob that was elected. Karl Rove. Dick Cheney. Nancy Reagan and her astrologer. Bannon is the latest in the long line of ghost-Presidents, he wielded his power behind the scenes as Trump-whisperer to ensure his own firing three months ago, and now he holds the reigns of power from his office at Breitbart. It's all a very complex plan of world domination, by a libertarian.

The notion that the people who voted for Trump were voting for him holding their nose, while really hoping for an old-style Republican moderate, is not right. They voted for Trump with glee. Mostly secret glee. Large numbers wouldn't say it out loud, because of the rhetoric that was invariably fired their way if they disclosed it. But, they went to the voting booth and gave secret middle-finger to the establishment and to the loud, activist Left -- all those people who like to tell everyone what to do.

I'd love to believe the Dems can win and flush the sick, inhumane, destructive Trump administration down the toilet where it belongs, but if Trump getting elected in the first place has thought me anything is you can't trust people to do the right thing. To make decisions which would better safeguard our planet, instead choosing to obnoxiously pull up to the polling boot, rolling coal in their pickups, shooting guns, laughing at the poor and infirmed, trolling the shit out of everyone, and select a piece of shit who speaks garbage.

I'll believe it only when I see Trump being kicked out on his arse and the tents move in to fumigate The White House. Until then my fate in humanity is below zero.

It'll never go back to how it was. The next president might be Pence, but whoever they are the rules have changed. A nation that governed itself now has rulers. Genii not going back in the bottle. :coffee:
What will the world be like after its ruler is removed?

Libertarians - power mad cunts. They mean to attain their power by legalizing pot and other recreational drugs, letting anyone marry anyone they want, letting anyone use whatever bathroom they want, and standing up for the civil rights of individuals as against government power. Nothing says "power mad" like a belief in limited government and the primacy of individual rights over the State.

You forgot about the anarcho-capitalist bit. You just described me, from an ideological standpoint.
