Do you think Trump will run for a second term?

Post by mistermack » Sat Nov 04, 2017 2:14 pm

That is, assuming he makes it that far.

I've go my doubts. His ego might be sated with one term, and he might be bored with the restrictions.
I don't see what he has to gain. He's not a conviction politician, he's not getting much done, and he's been there, done that.

I'm guessing he will keep them guessing, and then announce he's not standing.

After all, where is the wall? Where are all the jobs he promised? Is America great again?
Nothing much will have changed by the time the next campaign gets under way.

But he can not run, and live the life of a former president, and have people call him "Mister President" for the rest of his life. There's nothing more to be gained, if you're Donald Trump.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

Who can know with him? Assuming he gets that far, I doubt he will run again. I suspect he's probably regretting it concerning the amount of work that is involved being Prez. I don't get the impression that he is used to actually working very hard.

He is showing lots of sheer willpower. Who knows, with dementia setting in, he might do a Reagan. But the party itself is a bit more loose and under various factors. It could decide that Pence is the last hope.

Trump will go with that too, if they can save face and he can call it some kind of victory.

This is assuming that he isn't assassinated, and that there hasn't been a nuclear holocaust... :tea:

I'm hoping he goes in a befitting way; like stepping on a rake and getting hit in the throat. Or slipping on a banana peel off a stage; and landing upside down in a tuba. Or swinging a bottle off champagne off the hull of a new aircraft carrier to launch it, w hich causes the automatic missile guidance system to retaliate.

All of this. One tragic accident after the other. Only the last one actually leading to his death

I think it would be good if a tiny fleck of space dust (once a bigger asteroid) crashed directly into his head, making it explode.

It's under way - several companies have constructed prototypes for the Customs and Border Patrol Department and the winner will likely get a contract to construct more of the wall. https://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way ... order-wall

260,000 jobs added in October. Unemployment is at a 16-year low. Note, also, the GDP growth hit 3% in the second quarter of 2017, which is a number his Democrat critics were saying was a pipe dream when Trump said he would shoot for that growth. https://www.cnbc.com/2017/08/30/trumps- ... tched.html And, he's saving businesses billions of dollars by his dramatic elimination of unnecessary regulation - https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/20 ... nge-study/

If that's true, what's everyone upset about? Trump in office - not much changing - the left is outraged at the horror of it all.

While the narrative in the media is as you describe, what gets underreported is that not only did the incompetent Drumpf get elected in 2016, but Republicans increased their control of state governorships tp 34 out of 50. They have 248 out of 435 House of Representative seats in Washington, and 54 seats out of 100 in the Senate. In 33 out of 50 states, Republicans control both chambers of the state legislature (state house and state senate). http://reason.com/blog/2016/11/14/the-2 ... state-legi

So, as much as you might want to think the GOP is teetering and would be on the verge of dumping Trump for Pence, I wouldn't bet on that. I am fairly sure that of the two major parties, the one that has outperformed expectations in the last two election cycles is not the Democratic Party. Which one looks like it has its shit together?

I'm not even sure he'll lose, there are enough morone around, especially in the inland red states to make the silly indirect election system elect him again.

well, his own camp might want to get rid of him bad enough, and without raising the difficulty of an impeachment procedure...
