I haven't seen a source yet saying that the weapons he used are illegal. Can you cite one?

They were full auto. Under the National Firearms Act, no fully auto rifle may be registered if it was made after 1986, 31 years ago, and the only full-autos that are allowed to be owned are those made before 1986 and which have been registered with the feds and with tax stamp paid. This guy, say the news reports, used unregistered full autos, apparently modified to be full auto, and were not registered. Illegal.

Perhaps Forty Two has a reputable source that says that, and if so I'd like to see it. I was going by the news reports on CNN and MSNBC yesterday. The rapid fire appeared to be full auto, and I thought the police said it was an automatic weapon, but I'm happy to be wrong. I'm not trying to score points.

If he used a full auto, it was very likely illegal, and I heard at least one report that he had supposedly modified the weapon to fire full auto. Reports were coming out fast and furious yesterday, so I'm not surprised if some of it was premature or wrong.

Anyway, it doesn't much matter to me. I hope Trump was serious when he said that "we'll be looking at gun laws..." - as there does need to be something done. I'm all ears for reasonable proposals.

I expect he was as serious as Trump ever is. He's a great one for stating an intention to do something and then ignoring it, even when he gives a time-frame like his infamous 'two weeks.' In this case it was 'We'll be talking about gun laws as time goes by' which is sufficiently vague in Trump-speak as to be practically meaningless.

The Republicans in Congress aren't likely to do much, given NRA pulling their strings and the fact that a very vocal element of their constituency is rabidly against any form of gun regulation. 'Now is not the time to talk about gun control' is the word from the White House official mouthpiece. That is the right wing mantra heard in the aftermath of any shooting tragedy.

I actually, for my sins, thought I would watch the video Wonderman Galaxian posted earlier – for fun (the first one).

I had to grit my teeth as it turned out but I did sit through it.

The 'evidence' amounts (in the first video) to

1.The gunman killed himself – how convenient (and it is more than coincidence that these shooters do – killing the 'evidence'. (towards the end of the video the narrator says the police killed him btw)

2.His brother cannot fathom him doing this..his brother expressed a lot of doubts in fact - not a gun guy for example. I wonder why the 'powers that be' didn't kill him to keep him quiet.

3. Forty five minutes before the concert a Hispanic woman left the scene (according to a third party) saying they 'are all going to die'

The video goes on to ask why the shooting may have been planned (by mysterious strategic forces). Well it seems it was probably 'anti-gun nuts' trying to get guns banned (no evidence offered...oh – except Hillary Clinton posted 'our grief isn't enough – we have to stand up to the NRA'. Gotcha!) on-line. Then we go scary – she planned it in part with the help of Zionists and she is a Rothschild 'sell-out' and part of the conspiracy.

Finally there is 'conclusive' video evidence that there was shooting from the fourth floor.

Well no there isn't. There's a very blurred shaky video of a building – maybe the hotel, maybe not – and a flashing light. It is brief and is played in a loop. The light could be anything, including a reflection - or something else altogether.

Finally, and potentially the only rational piece of possible evidence is an (apparent) recording of a police radio conversation saying there 'may' be a further suspect on the fourth floor.

So – that's it. Their thorough searching video, researched and put together in 24 hours amounts to a pile of paranoid half truths, preconceptions and paranoia made to fit a pathological world view held by paranoids and the unhinged - a bit like our very own Galaxian in fact..

And that is the last time I will respond to Galaxian's posts in any detail except to tell him to get help..or more likely to just fuck off.
