I'm done having this conversation in America btw it's difficult and utterly pointless.
It is very sad that reason cannot prevail with this issue given the thousands (literally) who have died in mass shootings in recent years. Even something as major as this isn't going to make a difference I fear. These things are almost routine and the gun lobby just shrugs its shoulders and rubs its greedy little mitts as more people buy guns to 'protect themselves' from this sort of violence.
understood and I agree something must be done, but what? This guy had automatic weapons, which are illegal already for almost everyone. What good would banning a handguns and hunting weapons do?
Sanctions against the US till it gets its shit together? We're too dangerous to be left alone...

The latest fad is a poverty social. Every woman must wear calico,
and every man his old clothes. In addition each is fined 25 cents if
he or she does not have a patch on his or her clothing. If these
parties become a regular thing, says an exchange, won't there be
a good chance for newspaper men to shine?

"The guy was shooting full auto out of a window at Mandalay Bay hotel. How in the world would people in the crowd shoot him with .38's in their belts?"
YES now just think a little more and you might get the fucking point ... No, shut up ! try thinking ..you can get there ... the truth might dawn on you if you use your tiny fucking brain, just this once
NOW answer one question should people with mental disorders be allowed to buy assault rifles and limitless ammo ?
Tell me does the standard NRA excuse EVERY TIME there is a MASS shooting that "one brave patriot with a gun could have stopped it"actually ring true ?
If that crowd of inbred retards ( country music remember ) had been armed the body count would have been higher because they would have shot each other in a panic .

Crazy Muzzies are crazy right wingers.
There's some truth in that. You don't find many left wing religious fundies. Hamas might be the closest. Although, I don't know how fundamentalist they are.

At what point do we start saying that your culture is toxic? And while the vast majority of people don't commit mass murder, you've got to wonder what's driving those people that do.

High functioning psychopath, until the day he snapped and become a low functioning one...he had the smarts to run for president...not the money though, so this was easier.

Of course the entire tragedy would have been avoided had
everybody been "carrying".
The guy was shooting full auto out of a window at Mandalay Bay hotel. How in the world would people in the crowd shoot him with .38's in their belts?
And this idea that everyone carries in the US, particularly at country concerts, is absurd. Guns are rarely seen at such events. Generally they are not allowed at concert venues.
I was having a cheap shot (

) at the gun nuts. One of their arguments I frequently hear is that massacres would be prevented. or at least significantly minimised, if everyone "carried". A variant of this is summarised by the motto: "An armed society is a polite society." John Lott wrote an entire book on the theme "more guns less crime". I find the notion that the solution to problems created by unregulated gun ownership is more gun ownership absurd, but we've argued about that in several other threads. I don't care to do another lap of it in this one.
As for the shooter being an accountant, he can't have been a good one. I'd never avail myself to the services of someone like him. If he is so radically unbalanced himself, how could he possibly manage to balance my books?

There's no law in Nevada that prevents somebody from bringing their weapons into a hotel room, and there are certainly no metal detectors. Apparently the shooter had been in that hotel room for a couple of days before he did the shooting and lived relatively near, but he needn't have made multiple trips. He could easily bring in multiple duffel bags or large suitcases filled with weapons when he first arrived. In a large hotel like that, nobody would really pay attention to somebody wheeling in a luggage cart with several pieces of luggage on it. Two or three trips, and he's got his armory. Just hang a 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door to keep the hotel staff out.

Trump initially supported Obama's idea to make automatic weapons much harder to purchase. Then he changed his mind.
The NRA contributed 22 million to Trump's election campaign.

Crazy country. Just saw a stat on facebook saying that the US suffers a mass shooting on 9 out of every 10 days.

That's fucking insane.
