I'm certainly not a Trump admirer, but when was there ever a US president who DIDN'T collude or have ties with a foreign power in the course of an election? It seems that even TALKING to any Russian can be portrayed as treason these days. But all other countries are ok.

When was there ever a president who didn't talk to Israel, and Jewish leaders, and do deals and give assurances, so as to buy their votes? But of course, Israel doesn't invade other countries and keep chunks of their land.

There has been no information or evidence presented that Trump or his team did anything wrong in their contacts with any foreign persons. There is nothing at all improper about talking to the Russian ambassador.

Russia is not an "enemy." And, there is nothing wrong with talking to officials of countries that are not allies of the United States. None of the intelligence reports we've seen has even suggested that there was any sort of improper communications going on. There simply is no issue here - none that has actually been brought to light. The accusations are coming from the opposite political side, and that's all they are - accusations.

The inquiries are ongoing, so the implied absolute and final nature of that statement is somewhat misplaced.

There is nothing at all improper about talking to the Russian ambassador.

Surely that depends on what one is talking about? Nonetheless, I'm sure you'll agree there is something wrong, by even the loosest definition of that term, with lying to Congress about meetings with Russian operatives, or pleading the 5th in response to questions about the content of such meetings. And it must also be noted that there is a substantial difference between governmental and non-governmental contacts with the agents and representatives of foreign powers.

If you are aware of any evidence that Trump or his campaign colluded with the Russians, then let's see it. Until then, you're just believing accusations without evidence. To which you'll probably respond that you don't "believe" or "disbelieve" - which is great, because then we agree and you can stop calling it apologetics, because that's all I'm saying.

i don't care if they investigate. However, if this is the kind of thing that is going to generate years of huge teams of special counsel folks, then we're going to see it directed at both sides. I don't want to see this kind of thing done to Democrats either, but they're guaranteeing that it will be.

I don't blame the Democrats for having a go. Fuck Trump. He is the man who accused Obama of faking his birth certificate. He deserves all he gets. Just recognise it for what it is. Tit for tat retribution.
These people probably don't even believe their own accusations. They're just getting even.

There's no chance of US politics growing up, any time soon. It generates headlines, and that's what runs the world, now.
