Post Trump era

Post by Tero » Thu Jun 15, 2017 1:08 am

Republican, Democrat, Sanders, Ryan, whatever. Where will it go?
There were some new polls out today. Democrat Jon Ossoff leads his must-win race against Republican Karen Handel in Georgia’s 6th special House election by 3 points, according to a poll released on Wednesday by Trafalgar Group. That’s a good number for Democrats and their hopes of taking back the House in 2018, the only scenario right now that looks like it might lead to impeachment. According to a YouGov poll, meanwhile, 54 percent of voters say Congress should be investigating Trump campaign members’ contacts with Russian government officials before the inauguration to 30 percent who don’t. That’s good news for those who want such an investigation to continue.

Democrats also lead Republicans by 2 points in that poll’s generic Congressional ballot. That number is probably less good for Democrats, who will need to win by a lot more than that to take back the House. Overall, I’m taking the Impeach-O-Meter down two points to 43.

Georgians send message to Trump on what a terrific job he is doing:
Republican Karen Handel defeats Democrat Jon Ossoff in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District

Just read Mike Pence's wiki page, the captive hunting of Republicans like him should be allowed.

I think conservatives should be in zoos. But I'd be happy to allow hunting of the more egregious conservatives.

Enough with the violent rhetoric :lay: Conservatives are people you know. They shouldn't be rounded up and hunted for sport - that's a deplorable idea. No, they should be rounded up and sent to re-education camps!!

I think zoos are a kinder idea and it avoids negative connotations with communism.

Ossof too centrist for Sandernistas:

But Ossoff’s centrism alienated some progressives. Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders eventually endorsed him, but only after publicly questioning whether he was a true progressive. And some on the left never cottoned to a Democrat who stressed his fiscal conservatism. In the end, Ossoff lost the seat by six points, more than the margin in Tuesday's congressional race in South Carolina to replace Mick Mulvaney, now Trump’s budget director. (Archie Parnell, a little known tax expert was defeated by GOP veteran Ralph Norman).

Some optimistic junk mail I get from last night:
Tonight, Democrats contested congressional districts in Georgia and South Carolina that Republicans have consistently won by over 20 points -- and turned both into neck and neck races.

The Republican chattering class is trying to demoralize us, tell us we're silly, and tell the Resistance to stop resisting.

Trump Tweeted an insult tonight -- saying we can't beat him. Seriously? We just went into the safest Republican districts and nearly beat them!

Republicans who won by 1, 3, 5, or 7 points in 2016 are kinda toast in 2018. And we're going to make sure those who won by 10 or 15 points go down in flames too.

The PCCC is training 300 federal and state candidates next month -- and doing polling, ads, and local events in vulnerable Republican districts to EXPAND THE MAP and win back the House in 2018.

Help win back the House in 2018. Donate $3 here. (Help us move faster by donating $6.)

As MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell put it tonight: If you are a Republican member of Congress who won by less than 20 points in 2016, be afraid.

Since you've pointed out that liberals and conservatives are the same, that's a mighty big zoo. What about moderates?

Where do you put the progressive left? I'd like to see them in mandatory reeducation centers, teaching them Enlightenment concepts and principles of individual liberty and limited government. They'll come out like Tom Tuttle from Tacoma, Washington, only in reverse.
