What a sad fucking state your democracy has descended too.
What did he say he lied about? He said Trump lied about Comey's competency and the morale at the FBI and that the rank and file at the FBI had lost confidence in Comey. Comey may dispute that, but they're not 'lies.' All the major Democrat leaders, we've seen, also questioned Comey's competency and fitness to be the head of the FBI, and said that they lost confidence in him. But, suddenly Trump's opinion of the morale at the FBI and whether others lost confidence in Comey, or that Comey was not competent to head the FBI, is a lie? How?

Comey said Trump's administration had defamed him in comments made after his firing by saying the FBI was in disarray and that the workforce had lost confidence in its leader. "Those were lies, plain and simple," says Comey. Really?
The director [Comey] was wrong to usurp the Attorney General’s authority on July 5, 2016, and announce his conclusion that the case should be closed without prosecution. It is not the function of the Director to make such an announcement. At most, the Director should have said the FBI had completed its investigation and presented its findings to federal prosecutors. The Director now defends his decision by asserting that he believed attorney General Loretta Lynch had a conflict. But the FBI Director is never empowered to supplant federal prosecutors and assume command of the Justice Department. There is a well-established process for other officials to step in when a conflict requires the recusal of the Attorney General. On July 5, however, the Director announced his own conclusions about the nation’s most sensitive criminal investigation, without the authorization of duly appointed Justice Department leaders.

Compounding the error, the Director ignored another longstanding principle: we do not hold press conferences to release derogatory information about the subject of a declined criminal investigation. Derogatory information sometimes is disclosed in the course of criminal investigations and prosecutions, but we never release it gratuitously. The Director laid out his version of the facts for the news media as if it were a closing argument, but without a trial. It is a textbook example of what federal prosecutors and agents are taught not to do.

The idea that there was a loss of confidence in Comey and that he was not competent to lead the FBI was fairly widespread, and bipartisan, depending on when you ask people. https://townhall.com/tipsheet/katiepavl ... g-n2324573

So, is it a lie to say that the FBI is poorly led and in disarray?

You don’t say ‘the army’ with the intensity,” she continued. “... But you say these names [Al Qaeda] because you want that word to carry weight. You want it to be something.” - Ilhan Omar

I didn't say you said they were lies. I said HE called them lies. But, how are they lies? Just because Comey thinks the FBI is not in disarray, that morale is great and he's perfectly competent? This says something about American democracy?

This "top cop" had a memo written about him by the Deputy AG in 2016 saying that he really should have been dismissed after the July 5, 2016 fiasco and his gross breach of protocols. He had Senators, Representatives, and major political figures calling him incompetent, demanding his resignation, and stating outright that they had lost confidence in his ability to run the FBI, and we're supposed to worry about his accusation that he thinks people are "lying" when they say he's not competent and his agency is in "disarray?"

Typical evasion. Just explain what you think is going on here. Fuck off with what you think I don't understand. God it's the same thing all the time with you.

You said, "Your top cop called your president a liar and untrustworthy," - indeed, and he noted what those "lies" were. He said it was lies, plain and simple, to say the FBI was in disarray, morale was down, and the agency had lost confidence in him. I think it's fair to say, that Comey can't call those things lies. He can disagree with them, but they're not lies, unless we are to say that Trump knew full well that Comey was a competent leader of the FBI, which was not at all in disarray, and which was in good morale the whole time. Trump supposedly knew all that, and then lied about it?

GOP’s New Defense of Trump: The Guy’s A Toddler, He Doesn’t Know Any Better

WASHINGTON – Republicans attempting to explain President Donald Trump’s behavior appear to be trying out a novel approach: He ought not to be blamed for his mistakes because he doesn’t know any better.

“He’s new at government and so, therefore, I think that he’s learning as he goes,” House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) told reporters Thursday, explaining how Trump could have thought it was OK to lean on the FBI director to drop a criminal investigation.

Yeah I had a laugh when I heard Ryan's excuse. "The president is clueless" isn't a very inspiring defence.

What are you on about? "Cleared" trump? Trump was never under investigation - I mean, Comey said it three times. Trump was not on trial, and there were no allegations brought against Trump for him to be cleared of.

I mean, this is the monumental bullshit that we're subjected to nowadays. We have a completely invented firestorm about Trump, and Comey is there testifying. As a result of his testimony, the New York Times and CNN have to correct their stories, because their "unnamed sources" turned out to be wrong. Chris Matthews, of MSNBC, points out that Comey's testimony destroys the narrative of "Russia collusion" completely.

Comey even testified that Trump encouraged him to pursue the Russia investigation, even if it meant involving people in his campaign. http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/chris ... le/2625372

What are we left with? Comey said Trump said he wished Comey could let the Flynn thing go. Comey says it's not for him to call that "obstruction of justice" but he said nobody directed him to drop anything, and nobody interfered with his investigation at all. He said Trump was never under investigation, which confirms what Trump said (which was what everybody was holding their breath for - the smoking gun - where Comey says he never told Trump that - he did tell Trump that). At the same time, Comey said Loretta Lynch, the Attorney General, come to him and tried to get him to call the investigation into Clinton a "matter" and not an "investigation."

And, then Comey calls Trump a liar, plain and simple, for Trump's view that the FBI was in disarray and comey not fit to lead it, etc.

This is what we're dealing with.

Even Fox News taking Clownshoes Trump to task:

Fox News’ Neil Cavuto Calls Out Donald Trump: Stop Scapegoating. You Are The Problem.

Following days of Twitter outbursts about “fake news” and London Mayor Sadiq Khan’s handling of the weekend’s deadly terrorist attack, Cavuto spoke directly to Trump. “Mr. President, it is not the fake news media that’s your problem. It’s you,” he said.

The host continued to call out the president for “scapegoating,” “feeding [his own] beast,” and “acting beastly with [his] own guys.” Cavuto criticized Trump for alienating members of his own party and creating the very distractions he blames for derailing his presidential agenda. He then urged the president to listen to his once-friendly allies.

No, it's the same thing all the time with you. I clearly explained what the problem was in the previous post, and you just seem incapable of understanding the simplest of things.

Donald Trump's new FBI director pick has Russian ties of his own
The most troubling issue that Wray may face is the fact that his law firm — King & Spalding — represents Rosneft and Gazprom, two of Russia’s largest state-controlled oil companies.
