In his final official speech as President, he spoke about the important role of citizens and how all Americans have a responsibility to be the guardians of our democracy — not just during an election but every day.

Citizens exercising their Constitutional right to assemble, organize and have their voices heard by their elected officials is exactly what we expect to see when American values are at stake.

With regard to comparisons to President Obama’s foreign policy decisions, as we’ve heard before, the President fundamentally disagrees with the notion of discriminating against individuals because of their faith.

Except, Trump's executive order wasn't a ban. It's just heightened screening from 7 countries who had been previously designated as high risk. As I understand it, the only ban is a temporary one regarding refugees, for 120 days or thereabouts until a proper vetting process is enacted.

How was the previous vetting system 'improper' or failing?

The move sets up a dramatic clash between the White House and Yates, who was appointed by President Barack Obama and is set to serve until Sen. Jeff Sessions, Trump's nominee for attorney general, is confirmed.

LOL - that's an interesting assumption, which you have no way of knowing, and which nobody has reported. It may well be that these are well-to-do folks. One of the things that gets people higher scrutiny is when they make repeat trips back and forth to high-risk areas. I don't know, and neither do you.

The protests are jumped up nonsense, and the majority of people know it. The hyperbolic language, comparisons to Hitler and the holocaust, and the bouncing around hollering about how "horrifying" everything is, well, that's not going to convince the majority of Americans. The majority of Americans see a policy that says we're going to be careful about people coming in from Yemen, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Syria, and ISIS controlled territory, etc. and they're going to say "that sounds a bit reasonable - check them out - and if they're cool, let them in, and if they're questionable, keep them out."

Everyone knows the big plan was to have a major women's event when Hillary Clinton won -- it was going to be a coronation, with worldwide celebration. An Iranian woman blocked from boarding at Tehran airport on Sunday said she had waited 14 years for her green card.

"Everybody knows" sounds very much like, "I'm just assuming that the millions of women and men who took to the streets in protest around the globe were only there because they had already decided they'd be doing something on the streets that afternoon." So, citation required for your claim please.

President Trump fired his acting attorney general on Monday after she defiantly refused to defend his immigration executive order, accusing the Democratic holdover of trying to obstruct his agenda for political reasons.

Taking action in an escalating crisis for his 10-day-old administration, Mr. Trump declared that Sally Q. Yates had “betrayed” the administration, the White House said in a statement.

The president appointed Dana J. Boente, United States attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, to serve as acting attorney general until Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama is confirmed.
