When activists rappelled down the front of Australia’s parliament last week to protest the country’s rigid refugee policy, then stood ankle-deep in a moat they had dyed blood-red, Sen. James McGrath from Queensland, one of the top ministers in the government, called them a selfish “bunch of grubs.”

Everyone knows that in ten or twenty years time there will be an apology from a future government for the actions of governments over the last 10 years. They current lot know they are wrong, but they can't be seen to be backing down. It's become a potent political weapon that the Murdoch press and the MSM in general are more than happy to use for their own reasons.
