Berlin Breitscheidplatz: Lorry kills 12 at Christmas market
Re: Berlin Breitscheidplatz: Lorry kills 12 at Christmas mar
Reasons why the Pakistani suspect was let go:
1. He was just arrested because he looked close to the person description by a witness. Originally, it was reported that a witnessed had followed the attacker until he was arrested by police. But the witness actually lost the attacker and police just arrested the guy because he was in the general direction and fit the description "Arab guy with white sneakers".
2. The front of the truck was full with blood and gunshot residue. There were signs of a fight between the attacker and the polish truck driver. The arrested guy wore clean clothes. Not any sign of blood or gunshot residue anywhere on his clothes or body. No sign of him having been involved in a fight recently, either.
3. The arrested guy has an alibi. Not for the time of the attack but for the whole afternoon until shortly before the attack (that is during the time the truck was abducted) friends of him and German official clerks could locate him in a government agency (where he had been for an interview related to his refugee status)
German law guarantees that no person can be held longer than 24 hours until there is at least some meaningful hint they were involved in some kind of crime.

He had served in the German military rather than in the Austro Hungarian forces. that gave him a patriotic German cachet.NineBerry wrote:Hitler was from a different country, as well.

Turks fight on the side of Turks, nobody else, other alliances are only circumstantial.

So they did know more than they have let on in the British media.
The reporting here has been pathetic.
And this market was named after Kaiser Wilhelm. The standard is so different for royals, isn't it? That cunt should have been incinerated with diesel, like Hitler.
You don't get many markets called Fuhrer Hitler market.

No. The church at the place is named "Kaiser Wilhelm Gedächtniskirche" (Church built in memory of Kaiser Wilhelm) because it was originally built in memory of Kaiser Wilhelm I (That is not the one who started World War I but an earlier one). The place the church is located at is named "Breitscheidplatz" after Rudolf Breitscheid, a social democrat politician from the beginning of the 20th century who died in a Nazi concentration camp.

German magazine Spiegel has an English language section on their website where some of the important articles are published. Good source for quality information on what is going on in Germany if you don't speak German:

Can't see an "Adolf Hitler" market keeping it's name, even if it was named for an earlier Adolf Hitler.
Anyway, it's a weird practice, naming churches after politicians.
Can't see the Church of Tony Blair being all that popular.

Better than a lengthy trial that'd keep inflammatory events like this in the news....NineBerry wrote:News reports: Probable attacker was killed in a gun fight with police in Italy.

I'd much rather fanatical nutters got their day in court, so that the nuttery of their nutage can be exposed for what it is - nuts.
