Getting a photo ID so you can vote is easy. Unless you’re poor, black, Latino or elderly.
For Settles to get one of those, his name has to match his birth certificate — and it doesn’t. In 1964, when he was 14, his mother married and changed his last name. After Texas passed a new voter-ID law, officials told Settles he had to show them his name-change certificate from 1964 to qualify for a new identification card to vote.

So with the help of several lawyers, Settles tried to find it, searching records in courthouses in the D.C. area, where he grew up. But they could not find it. To obtain a new document changing his name to the one he has used for 51 years, Settles has to go to court, a process that would cost him more than $250 — more than he is willing to pay.

“It has been a bureaucratic nightmare,” said Settles, 65, a retired engineer. “The intent of this law is to suppress the vote. I feel like I am not wanted in this state.”

So, his vote isn't worth $250 to him. Why then should we give a fuck if he votes or not? He sat on his rights (to get ID) for too long and so he lost the right to vote because he didn't bother to keep his ID current. He had fifty-two fucking years to correct the problem and chose not to. Sucks to be him I guess.

The intent of the law is to force people to prove they are legally entitled to vote. If you don't care enough about voting to do what is necessary to obtain proof that you are eligible to vote, then fuck you, you don't get to vote. That's just how it is.

Just a minus? Shouldn't she be tried for war crimes? Libya didn't attack us, and did not have WMD, and there was no UN resolution, right? That makes wars illegal doesn't it? Or only some wars? Maybe it's all in the nuance...

The three states with recounts certainly had issues. Wisconsin has strict voter ID laws, so many blacks were turned away. But of all the states PA was certainly winnable

without Humana, fake news, Putin and Comey involvent, she would have won PA. The other two states would have needed a lot campaigning. MI and WI can be won only by a charismatic DEM with hope and change, it seems.

These are the elections where popular vote was less than 5% different between winner and loser. Usually you win by 10-20 electoral votes. Trump by dumb luck got 70. NY Times

Ha ha.

On elector vote day. What went wrong?

1 people show up for hope and change type of candidates, not for "more of the same"
Except:
2 Republicans show up to faithfully vote for the Republican candidate. They do this 2 years from now for house and senate. They do this because these candidates lower taxes, stop abortion, keep guns etc.

They absolutely do not care if he is a crook and has to resign because they still get the vice president in.

They do this to protect "their way of life", "the constitution" and all the things us rich white folks have always had.

They only need 48% of the vote to get house and senate. Democrats, due to gerrymandered districts, need 60%.

More electors defected from Hillary than Trump yesterday. http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing- ... rs-in-vote

They did their job and refused to vote for the non-qualified candidate. :funny:

Overall, Clinton lost five electors from states she won — three of whom instead cast their votes for former Secretary of State Colin Powell, one of whom voted for Bernie Sanders, and the other of whom voted for Faith Spotted Eagle, an activist involved in protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline.

Meanwhile, three electors in other states Clinton won attempted to defect from her, but two were replaced with Clinton-supporting alternates and the other one changed his mind after a revote.

If they had Gal Powell would have had a majority, not that evil clown that lost the popular vote and rode on the fact your system is broken.

LOL. Classic. The system is broken because Hillary Clinton lost. Come on, man. She was an awful candidate, with a miserable past of lies, self-dealing, ethical breaches, and questionable sources of funds. She was bought and paid for by Wall Street and foreign moneyed interests.

the system is broken because
a) it completely skews the vote so that some citizens count more than others
b) it was established so unqualified populists would not get elected, yet see who'll soil the white house for the next 4 years at least...
