Farmers, who all voted Trump, all in income range where Obamacare gave no subsidies. Now planning co-ops to bargain as group?

No, collective bargaining only becomes a socialist tool when it is made mandatory by and favored by the ruling government.Brian Peacock wrote:Collective bargaining? Socialism!
Only when the government (as it usually does) places its thumb on the scale in favor of the workers and to the disadvantage of the employer, as happens here in the US all the time because the National Labor Relations Board is, and has been for the last 100 years, packed with ex-union bosses, which means it always rules against employers in labor disputes, does collective bargaining become objectionable.
But there is nothing remotely socialist about groups of workers banding together to negotiate with an employer over wages and benefits...so long as the employer is legally entitled to tell them to go fuck themselves, fire them all and replace them with non-unionized workers.

Re: Healthcare... America and the rest
Black dude fixed healthcare, so we Republicans must repeal it! let's also fix Medicare to look like....the old Obamacare! We are so smart!
This is how the healthcare Jenga puzzle works. Remove a block and the whole thing falls apart. Maybe that’s the point. If Trump and the congressional Republicans repeal the sections of the law via a 50-plus-one reconciliation vote in the Senate, namely the subsidies and the mandate since each prong is linked to the budget, they’ll infuriate the $900 billion health insurance industry by forcing insurers to accept patients with pre-existing conditions but accompanied by a massive loophole created via the repeal of the mandate.
In case you didn’t notice, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is more than a little complicated. Health insurance in general is confusing by itself, but when we combine the viral confusion with the incendiary rage experienced by certain Americans when the word “Obamacare” is mentioned in public, we have a toxic cocktail of fear, anger and confusion. Americans have an insufferable tendency to do crazy things when they’re scared, angry and confused. With Obamacare, the dominant reaction is to kill it. Stupidly.
I like that wording. I'm going to use that from now on. Because reasons. That means only a minuscule fraction of people who hate the law are actual Obamacare users. The majority is telling a small minority of ACA users that they’re not allowed to have insurance they like, because reasons.
http://www.salon.com/2016/11/28/the-mis ... condition/The only non-Obamacare users who might have a gripe or two are Americans making more than $250,000. Their Medicare taxes go up a little. Oh, and people who use tanning beds are charged more.

The only solution is to repeal Obamacare entirely, root and branch, and return to the status quo ante.Tero wrote:Black dude fixed healthcare, so we Republicans must repeal it! let's also fix Medicare to look like....the old Obamacare! We are so smart!

Re: Healthcare... America and the rest
My post buried in "news" thread.
Most European countries have private clinics and hospitals. Many of them are used by patients to get better diagnoses. They charge the same, or more, than doctors here. It's the same price in US and Europe. Little less in Russia, a lot less in India and Mexico. You charge the maximum no matter what. You can't charge so much, in say India, that you get no patients.
The doctors and hospitals have you. You are not going to Mexico for a sinus infection. So you pay $80-100 for the office visit.

At least you can get an office visit, unlike the UK where you'll die of sepsis waiting for an office visit.Tero wrote:My post buried in "news" thread.

And should they be? The government has no authority to tell a private business which people they must do business with.Tero wrote:Trump pick for health overhaul: insurance companies no longer required to insure "sick people."

Re: Healthcare... America and the rest
They do. They can regulate this sort of thing. The insurers can go insure cars and houses if they don't want people. Much easier math to calculate premiums.
Re: Healthcare... America and the rest
Really? How do you figure that? Care to cite a provision in the Constitution that gives Congress the authority to tell a private business that it must do business with a particular person?Tero wrote:They do. Oh, and that's exactly what insurers are doing...abandoning the health care insurance industry in droves. Pretty soon there won't be anybody offering health care insurance policies at any price because not only can't the government mandate that they do business with people they can't mandate that insurers do business in that market AT ALL.
That's why Obamacare must fail. It's an economic inevitability and always has been, because the whole purpose of Obamacare is to wipe out the private health care insurance industry. That's been its purpose from the very beginning as a part of a plan to forcibly impose government-owned and run socialized medicine on the people using an artificially created "health care insurance crisis" as justification for taking over the entire health care industry.
And if Hillary had been elected this is most certainly what would have happened, and the liberal fascists would have blamed the crisis on "greedy insurance companies" who refuse to provide insurance coverage.
This plan has been both obvious and well-known since the bill was introduced in Congress.
Insurance companies cannot offer insurance if they cannot control access to the pool of insured to exclude those who are actuarially likely to require more in claims payouts than the company can make in premiums while retaining its ability to make a profit. The Obamacare architects were fully aware of this and planned the multi-thousand-page law to cover up their evil fascist intent.
But Hillary lost and Obamacare is going to be deader than Castro pretty damned quickly after Trump takes office, thank the stars above and every deity that exists.

"whole purpose of Obamacare is to wipe out the private health care insurance industry"
Total bullshit, once again. Firstly, they can opt out and keep only corporate clients. Second, they were part of the deal. It actually would have worked, had all the states played along. It might have cost a bit, but many self employed enteroreneurs used it. Several of my hair cutters were on it, as the Super Cuts franchise owner offered zero benefits. He was under the total number of employees required to have to.
