I'm in the 18.6%.

I had, though, pictured people here were using some sort of steampunk computer.

Coal sludge is filled with toxins. Each year coal preparation creates waste water containing an estimated 13 tons of mercury, 3236 tons of arsenic, 189 tons of beryllium, 251 tons of cadmium, and 2754 tons of nickel, and 1098 tons of selenium.[48]
So why the fuck aren't the greenies busily searching for ways to extract, reprocess and recycle these valuable minerals instead of whining about it using computers powered by...wait for it...coal.
We are.
You're doing a lousy job of it. I see no reason why the rest of the population of the planet should do without energy from coal fired power plants while you muck about and fail to come up with a rational solution that does not require "energy costs to necessarily skyrocket". Oh, wait, there IS a rational answer: Coal, natural gas and nuclear power.

Of course the greenies also don't want drilling and fracking to get natural gas or nuclear power, despite the fact that fracking has never once been proven to have contaminated any domestic water supply and we haven't had a nuclear melt-down in decades thanks to actual engineers who have designed very safe nuclear plants.

Greenies, you see, are Luddites who want us all to live in wattle-and-daub huts and grub in the ground for roots with sharpened sticks. That's why I laugh at them, make fun of them and ignore them.

Never been a verified case of fracking fluids in drinking water. Period. It's all hyperbolic speculation by anti-fracking greenies whose objective is to prevent the extraction of fossil fuels. They don't give a shit about human health.

Well, Fukushima is a contemporary example, but one really shouldn't build a nuke plant in an area subject to tsunamis. Shit happens. Still, we need electrical power and "renewables" supply less than 2% of the world's energy needs and will NEVER be able to provide 100%...unless we're all living in wattle-and-daub huts and grubbing in the ground for roots with sharpened sticks.

No interest, so the greenies can go fuck themselves.

Besides, wind farms are ugly and noisy and they kill birds by the tens of thousands.

Is someone seriously bringing up the bird argument?

Climate change is far worse for birds.

Not to mention many other species as we wander into an extinction event.

Deniers need to fuck off pretending they suddenly care about nature when it comes to wind turbines because clearly they don't give a first fuck about what's going on out there. Not a first fuck.

Birds, like all living creatures, adapt to climate change because the climate has been changing for some 4 or 5 billion years so far and it will continue to do so until the sun engulfs the planet. Get over it.

You won't be missed. Earth abides.

Birds can adapt to climate change. They can't adapt to being chopped in half by a pointless, useless, expensive and economically infeasible wind turbine blade. Because the turbines are nothing more than a feel-good sop to greenies and are useless insofar as providing statistically significant amounts of energy, wasteful insofar as they are far more expensive to build and maintain than a coal or gas-fired power plant, and a visual and audible blight on the landscape, that means that they are far worse for the environment, and birds, than coal, natural gas or nuclear power plants are. For one thing, you can locate a coal or gas fired power plant close to the source, and a nuclear power plant almost anywhere away from population centers and transmit the electricity to where it's needed, but you can only build a wind farm where the wind blows, which blows if people happen to live or work nearby, which you'd know if you had to live under one.

I think all wind-farm proponents should be forcibly housed directly under wind turbines. That would be a good use for the land between individual towers. Nice thin walls and roofs to maximize the "whoosh, whoosh, whoosh" of the blades and the infrasonics and windows looking only at the turbine field, because wind farm proponents don't give a fuck how horrible wind farms look or sound so they should be forced to live under them as punishment for being fuckwits.

In the wild it is other predators, at least to the same extent. Urban sprawl and pollution is another factor. Pigeons do really well though. Whenever I go to town I can hear them and finches and sparrows coughing all over the place.

You should. Renewable are the future and demand is on the increase, despite Trump and his dimwitted, psychopathic cronies. I'm afraid, as much as arseholes in the Heartless Institute are salivating right now, that the ball is rolling, the green revolution is happening, China is leading the way, while America potentially trails behind, taking it's World leader status with it.

That is, unless, Trump does a U-turn on scrapping Obama's clean energy plan. Sure why not? He's already done more U-turns than a toilet fitter.
