Real clear politics poll averages has Clinton at + 1.6 over trump, and trump seems to be still gaining.

Trump says he no longer thinks Obama is not an American, but blames Hillary for starting the rumours.
Despite being a proponent of the 'birther' movement – people who do not believe Obama was born in the US –Trump said he had brought the 'ugly incident' to its conclusion and blamed Hillary Clinton for raising the issue first; something she has categorically denied and he has failed to provide evidence of.

Well, the original birthers were Hillary supporters, they started it. Not saying she had a hand in it, though it certainly wouldn't surprise me, the Clintons are past masters at dirty tricks.

Trump's tax plan actually looks good. Reduce the current seven brackets to three, at 12, 25, and 33%. He'd limit itemized personal deductions to $100,000 for individuals and $200,000 for joint filers (this would generate a LOT of income from "the rich"). He'd cut corporate tax rates to 15%, slightly lower than the European average, making U.S. companies more competitive. He would peg the pass-through rate at 15% also, an enormous boon to small business owners. The disparity between pass through rates and corporate tax rates has been a thorn in many small business owner's sides for years (me included). If that had been the case over the last decade I would have expanded our rental business, resulting in more tax income for the government, more income for ME, and more income for a host of other businesses and individuals from plumbers to hardware stores.

His immigration plan also makes sense. Deport criminal illegals NOW. Create a new visa category for those illegals who are working and paying taxes. Not citizenship, because that spits in the face of all those who have jumped through the byzantine hoops to immigrate legally, but a way for them to stay here. If they want citizenship they have to return to their home country and apply just like anyone else. "Anchor children" will have a streamlined path to citizenship.

His maternity leave proposals are also rational, though he will be "giving free shit" to some people. The idea of tax free savings accounts for child care is excellent.

So all in all he's looking more rational as the campaign continues, which is what I said he'd do at the outset. Come on like gangbusters, then back off to a more reasoned approach. I'm beginning to think that a Trump presidency might be survivable.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

There is a strategy memo from 2007 where Mark Penn wrote about emphasizing Hillary's American birth and upbringing, and targeting Obama's "lack of American roots." They were careful in the wording, but the message was clear. “Let’s explicitly own ‘American’ in our programs, the speeches and the values. He doesn’t … Let’s add flag symbols to the backgrounds [of campaign events].” http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc ... 008/37952/

In addition, John Heilman of Bloomberg confirmed on MSNBC's Morning Joe show that birtherism started with Hillary - Host Joe Scarborough called Clinton’s attack on Trump “rich,” saying, “For Hillary Clinton to come out and criticize anybody for spreading the rumors about Barack Obama, when it all started … with her and her campaign passing things around in the Democratic primary[.] … This started with Hillary Clinton, and it was spread by the Clinton team in 2008.” … Heilemann, author of the insider account of the 2008 election Game Change, said it was the case that Clinton spread the rumors. “It was the case,” he said. “I’m affirming the Scarborough-Brzezinski assertion.” http://www.mediaite.com/tv/morning-joe- ... -with-her/

As per the Washington Post - https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/boo ... d02c8a7a91 --
Obama and Clinton were both at Reagan National Airport on their way to Iowa for a [2007] debate, and the candidates met on the tarmac for what became a brief but heated conversation. Then-Obama personal aide Reggie Love witnessed the event and describes it in his new memoir:

[Obama] very respectfully told her the apology was kind, but largely meaningless, given the emails it was rumored her camp had been sending out labeling him as a Muslim. Before he could finish his sentence, she exploded on Obama. In a matter of seconds, she went from composed to furious. It had not been Obama’s intention to upset her, but he wasn’t going to play the fool either.

Trump has made allusion to assassination of Clinton again. He should be in jail, not running for President.

The level of vitriol, the depth of feeling, much of it hatred, the degree of disagreement in this election is truly alarming. Hyperbole abounds.

And yet. And yet, given what an utter arsehat fucktard neofascist Trump is, I guess it is justified.

If he gets in I'm resigning.

Trump's economic plan will reduce tax revenues overall, and thus extend the deficit, the hope being that the potential boost it could offer businesses and consumers will, in time, plug some of that gap.

Time will tell. And if it doesn't work you know that Trump will blame everybody but himself.
