Agree totally Svarty. Which is why you also have the hadiths. The koran was never written but memorised and when it was finally written it was in Arab script without vowels! Making it even more unclear. It was also not one document but several and only later (very similar to the bible) was brought together.

Correct. Either the Koran is correct, and Allah's instructions are illogical and contradictory.
...or the Koran was written to exercise control over people.

Take a wild guess on this one, Everybody!
Or just, Mohammad's instructions are illogical and contradictory and the Koran was written to exercise control over people.
Hate to say it, but I'm agreeing with Tyrannical here. It's clearly both.

We certainly know that with the Bible certain parts were ripped out and other bits changed to suit the political needs of the day. I would expect the sacred writings of other religions to have been manipulated in the same way. Religion exists to maintain power over people. Nothing more, nothing less.

The bible was never ripped apart as it was never a whole to start of with. It was agreed upon what would it be made up from. The same is true of the koran of which there are three versions which belies the avid muslims' claim that it is still the original.

There's a pretty good chance you are right.
