Re: #Rio2016 : All Things Olympian
Well she has undescended testes so she's intersex, neither entirely male nor female. 3X the normal testosterone level of a typical woman has given her the physique of a man and, hence, an unfair advantage. I think if we're going to divide these games into male and female events, it's reasonable to expect the participants to be clearly one sex or the other

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

No, what is reasonable is that if someone is accepted by the rules of the IOC to participate as a woman, then she can. If you don't like it you can change channels.tattuchu wrote:Well she has undescended testes so she's intersex, neither entirely male nor female. 3X the normal testosterone level of a typical woman has given her the physique of a man and, hence, an unfair advantage. What is completely unacceptable is for the losers to now complain that it isn't fair.

It is purely natural. Should men who have a lack of testosterone also be banned for not being proper men?

Rio Olympics 2016: Laura Trott 'frustrated' by questioning of British success
Four-time Olympic champion Laura Trott is frustrated rival riders have questioned Britain's Rio track success.
British riders won six gold medals, four silvers and one bronze in Brazil, having taken 12 medals at London 2012.
World championships in between have yielded fewer medals and several rivals - including Australia's Anna Meares - have questioned the team's improvement.
"It is a little bit frustrating because there's a lot of hard work gone into that performance," Trott, 24, said.
Meares, who came 10th in the individual sprint in Rio having won the title at London, had said: "We're all just scratching our heads going 'how do they lift so much when in so many events they have not even been in contention in the World Championships?'"
German rider Kristina Vogel called Team GB's performance "questionable", while France's sprint coach Laurent Gane said he "could not understand" their improvement.

What they always seem to omit is do they have a Y Chromosome? Does Casta Semenya?tattuchu wrote:Well she has undescended testes so she's intersex, neither entirely male nor female. 3X the normal testosterone level of a typical woman has given her the physique of a man and, hence, an unfair advantage. Maybe they should have a special games for those who identify as other than what their chromosomes would indicate. Let them take whatever hormones they like, and compete with similar people. So women can do a sex change, take all the testosterone they like, and compete with others, including former men identifying as women.
As far as the UK goes, we they got lots of medals. But an awful lot were for micky-mouse events like horse dancing etc. I can't think of many mainstream sports that we they got a gold in.
Just the Breaststroke swimming. And anyway, swimming is a joke. There should be one medal for the best swimmer. Not dozens and dozens, for slightly different strokes and distances.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.

We should just let them compete in whatever category they identify with. For example, a 275 pound male MMA fighter could compete as a female featherweight boxer. Usain Bolt could compete in the Paralympic 100.
It's only fair.
It's only fair.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

tattuchu, you have made the olympics worth watching. At least a few hundred pixels of it

Re: #Rio2016 : All Things Olympian
The only fair way of dealing with intersex competitors and the only truly equal system is to abandon Male or Female distinctions, remove all sex discrimination from the Olympics of course that would mean very few women would be able to reach international levels. I can't see that being popular .laklak wrote:We should just let them compete in whatever category they identify with. Just watched Sarah Storey win her 12th Paralympic gold on the cycling track in the women's pursuit. An amazing achievement.
