Republicans don't cut funding for schools, they cut funding for federal giveaways to the dependent class. It's the democrats who refuse to fund school infrastructure and cause deterioration because its democrats who tax the crap out of people, send the money to Washington where the career bureaucrats in the Department of Education (an agency that has absolutely no constitutional basis for existing in the first place) siphon off 30 percent to pay their bloated salaries and another 20 percent or more funding leftist educational efforts like "Common Core" that they want to impose on local schools, and then they dribble out the remainder in the form of inedible school lunch programs that wastes billions and causes hundreds of thousands of tons of food to be discarded every day because students won't eat it.
Very little of what is taken by the federal government to fund education actually makes it BACK to the communities from which the money was taken in the first place, and it always comes with strings and conditions imposed on the grants that force local school districts to toady to the leftists controlling the Department of Education lest the kids in the schools not have lunch at all.
The federal government doesn't fund school infrastructure, the local school districts and the states do that. If the leftists in the Department of Education were all stood up against a wall and shot school infrastructure would get an immediate boost from all the tax money NOT sent to Washington that remains in the local community where it can be used by the residents to improve the education of THEIR children in THEIR community, rather than being stolen from their children by federal bureaucrats.
As for infrastructure it's the leftist democrats who are responsible for that deterioration too because what they do, when they have the reins, is to divert funding that's supposed to be set aside for roads, bridges, sewers, etc. to their favorite social welfare giveaways instead, arguing that "people are more important than streets and bridges." They do this to pander to poor people strictly in order to get their vote and for no other reason. And so the decisions of the elected conservative representatives who set aside money for infrastructure are reversed and the money is filched by the leftist democrats to pander for votes, and then Marxist useful idiots claim it's the conservatives who are responsible for the deterioration of infrastructure and schools, which is simply a lie.

The graphic shows you the rate of growth of government expenditure is always higher under repubs than dems. Further, when you convert to spending as a proportion of GDP, Reagan was the highest other than fdr during the war and Obama during the GFC (both totally understandable for the non-retards amongst us).
