I haven't played in years, since Civ 3. In school I used to play multiplayer with a great group of guys from all over, even Wales (I never understood a word that guy said.). But multiplayer's tough for Americans, soon as the strayans knew I was merkin they revelled in skyping me pics of Bush taking laden from behind, truly filthy stuff, pics no man should have on his comp. I guess that's strayans for you.

So have they ruined the series yet, or is it even better?

I'm told Civ IV is better but I have evil windows 7 on my computer so it wont let me play it. Civ V is hated because of diplomacy and stuff which is anathema to bloodthirsty Civ players.

Civ II was great but once you had achieved advance flight and could bomb the shit out of your opponents, you had won the game. It was like Stalingrad never happened.
