In my experience when it comes to politics the Dutch are far more astute than many other countries' politicians. Instead of complaining about the EU the Dutch always get a couple of their people into the centre of decision making which is something the British failed to realise is the way to influence the organisation.

The Dutch and Germans, like the Scandinavians, are a higher order human, as far as I am concerned. And I don't mean that in a 'master race' way. They are nice friendly people, usually good looking, well educated, and they are socially far more progressive than most other people on the planet. Should probably put Canadians in that mix too.

I put it down to the effects of social democracy. Although times have changed there are still pillars you dont touch; health, education and social care. You never see cut backs on those.
