Yep. When you have the profit motive, you will always get corruption and cronyism.Hermit wrote:You're talking about utopian capitalism now. In reality corporatism will always develop out of what begins as what you call "just exchange of goods and/or services for likewise". There is nothing you can do to prevent that from happening, though you can impose some control over it through regulations and laws. How well such controls work depends on how well those regulations and laws are formulated and how effectively they are enforced.DaveDodo007 wrote:It does peeve me when people mix up capitalism with corporatism though. There was security and police at the event that was being disrupted. They stood by and watched at the direction of the administration of the school. The police and security do nothing, because this social justice horseshit is infectious. It's a cancer.DaveDodo007 wrote:Though I understand your (42) anger and frustration at the way universities are behaving right now, eRv does have a point about this crossing the line into intimidation and violence and there are laws against that. They stormed the stage. One of them assaulted the moderator and grabbed his microphone away from him. She then aggressively approached Milo, and swung at him, nearly hitting his face (you see Milo simply turn his cheek and wince a bit, but he held back reacting). Another one paced up and down the stage, and threatened immediate violence against Milo -- threatened to hit him and knock him to the floor.

When the social justice douchebags stop talking about microaggressions, and stop trying to silence opinions they don't like, we can all go back to discussing the real issues that face the world at-large. However, as long as dickwads are going to rush the stage and assault people in the name of "social justice" and to oppose "hate speech," then the douchies who side with them are going to be called what they are -- virtue signalling white knights. They support the right of so-called marginalized groups (at De Paul University, Harvard, Yale, Columbia, etc.) to use violence and intimidation to shut people up, because the dippy white knights want to look progressive and forward thinking, in favor of the oppressed.... fucking wankers.DaveDodo007 wrote:Just admit you are one of them ebil Globalist and were good.eRv wrote:Starting to see more use of the terms "white knighting", "virtue signalling" and the like on facebook lately. The biggest threat to their way of life are feminists, and particularly male feminists. Jeezus, get some bloody perspective.
As I said last time you ignored my post, if this is the case then it is a problem with your police collaborating with the university, not a problem of rabid lefties.Forty Two wrote:There was security and police at the event that was being disrupted. The rest of us don't have problems discussing the real problems facing the world. Just admit it, you lot don't give a fuck about climate change or crony capitalism. You are all too busy stumbling over each other trying to play the victim as minorities (or their "proxies") start making demands on your whitebread sensibilities.Forty Two wrote:When the social justice douchebags stop talking about microaggressions, and stop trying to silence opinions they don't like, we can all go back to discussing the real issues that face the world at-large.DaveDodo007 wrote:Just admit you are one of them ebil Globalist and were good.eRv wrote:Starting to see more use of the terms "white knighting", "virtue signalling" and the like on facebook lately. The problem is that the universities are controlled by the rabid lefties, and those who support the rabid lefties. I.e., the protesters ARE the establishment. So, it is a problem with rabid lefties.eRv wrote:[

I did not say the "police" are infected.
University administrations aren't the State. Why do you have such disdain for the liberal principle of respect for private property rights? This is the same concept behind the new kind of protest we see on campuses -- we see students protesting in favor of more authoritarian action by administrations. Why? Because they know they have the control -- they are the establishment, and they are using the establishment to silence their opposition.
I think you misunderstood the context. The police don't want to get involved with being called racist, so they were willing to tolerate a lot. But, the folks that have been infected by the social justice horseshit is the administration. The college administration directed the security personnel and police to not take action, and the security/police did just that.eRv wrote:Yes you did. In public universities they are. Our university system in the US is huge - we have thousands of universities, and most are state-funded, which makes them subject to much of the same restrictions on action as a government entity.eRv wrote:University administrations aren't the State.
