Meh, the United States has already done the fracturing thing--it didn't work. Presidential election politics have a long history of being divisive and vicious, going clear back to the days of the campaign of 1800. No doubt there were plenty of people who considered the options in that race, and voted for the "least worse."

As for superdelegates, this page may help in understanding what's going on there. Just to note--the majority of superdelegates who will be attending the Democratic convention have already pledged to vote for Clinton. You can see a list of 2016 superdelegates here. If you examine the list, you'll see that there are superdelegates from California listed, even though the California primary has not occurred yet. That's a clue.

Dude? It's the fact. Super delegates don't vote till the end. The current delegate count is: 1769 vs 1497. 917 votes still to go. So 2092 to win the primary delegate vote. He's only 270 odd behind with 917 to go. In terms of polls, he's not that far off that figure, although, winner take all contests (and closed primaries) changes that metric (away from Bernie). When the primary delegate votes are over, then the super delegates get to vote. If Sanders does manage to get up in the primary vote, then the super delegates will have to decide whether to disavow the primary delegates candidate.

Whether Hillary is evil or not is irrelevant, particularly given evil isn't even a concept atheists should be adopting. But she is a neoliberal and a neocon and those are the people that have mired your country in the mess it's been in for the last 30 odd years. If your country wants to stop the steady progression to the insane right, then at some point it needs to jump off the train and back the candidate that actually represents the bulk of what people say they actually want from their system/society. Backing the candidate who accelerates a little slower than the other candidate towards the insane right cliff edge, only pushes back the crash just a little further.

Having said all that, I really don't know what to make of Donald Trump. It's hard to separate out the bluster from his real views. If he is indeed more socially liberal than most republicans, and isn't a neolib nor a neocon, then he might not be that much of a disaster for the US. Sure, he'll piss your Mexican neighbours off, but I'm sure you guys can survive that for 4 years. And sure, he's an unprofessional buffoon, but so was Reagan to a degree. That's what the bureaucracy is for - to do the thinking for these puppets. The bigger question will be how China will react to Trump pulling out of "free trade" agreements, if indeed that is what he does (I'd bet there's no fucking hope he will do much in that regard). If China starts playing hardball, and Trump reckons he's not going to militarily meddle in other's affairs, then he might find the US bent over the barrel about to get fat chinese choad up the arse. I'm sure as the bully that he is he won't be willing to take that. That's when the unprofessionalism and the narcissism and immature personality might start endangering your country.

Trump is a funny guy, and most of you all don't really get what he's all about. He's fairly liberal as republicans go, probably could have run as a democrat. Oddly enough, I'd compare him most closely to Bill Clinton when it comes to the left / right wings of the party.

Misogynistic? Probably the least sexist person to ever run for President. He treats men and women equally, more so than any feminist. Shocking I know, but he's done more for women when it comes to breaking through the glass ceiling than anyone. Women managing large construction projects? Unheard of before Trump.
