If low IQ causes racism, does that mean that IQs have gone up overall in the last 50, 100 and 150 years?

If indeed, racism is linked to low IQ, then surely when basically everyone was racist, the average IQ would have been much lower. Even most abolitionists of the 19th century were still racist - they may have wanted to end slavery, but they generally did not think of the races as being "equal" and they were not hanging out and dating among the races. By today's standpoint, just about everyone, white and black, were racist before the last few decades saw a dramatic reduction.

I wonder. Is the study referred to above politically biased horseshit, or have they keyed on a fact about the human brain that racism is directly related to lower IQ? Occam's Razor says....

In any case, of course IQ is genetic, lol. Why would the brain be the only organ in the body not governed by the genetic code?

Actualy, it's EQ that has risen, IQ has stayed more or less steady, just that more of the people with it have been able to profit from it, thanks to education. I know of extremely intelligent people who were perfectly racist, except that it was the normal standard of their times

IQ hasn't changed. Common knowledge has improved via things like the discovery channel and the web in general. And folks are better informed with numerous sources of information. The flynn effect is a reflection of a better informed populace. And if the quality of TV stalls, which it has, the flynn effect will stall, which it has.

Yeah. I know a few people who are well spoken, but can't think their way out of a wet paper sack.
Catholic schools in America are notorious for this - producing a graduate who can speak politely and fill out a job application, but reasons at the 4th grade level and can't pour piss out of a boot without supervision.

I would agree that the change in the results of IQ tests is very likely the result of cultural change, rather than any increase in inherent intelligence in the species. However, the apparent decrease in racism over the years that Forty Two refers to is also a cultural change. It's possible that the two are related in some way.
