Migrant crisis: EU 'to back' visa-free travel for Turkey

The European Commission will give conditional approval for Turks to travel without visas to Europe's passport-free Schengen area, sources have told the BBC.
Visa liberalisation was offered in return for Turkey taking back migrants who crossed the Aegean Sea to Greece.

But Turkey must still meet EU criteria, and the visa deal needs approval by the European Parliament and member states.
The EU fears that without this deal, Turkey will not control migration.

The waiver would scrap the requirement for Turks to get a three-month, short-stay Schengen visa, for tourism or business trips. But it will not grant Turks the right to get a job in Europe.
The UK, Ireland and Cyprus are not in Schengen, so they will keep the visa requirement for Turkey.

This is why I'm voting for out of Europe.
Not this particular issue, but the cumulative effect of dozens and hundreds of similar issues, all adding up to a Europe that is slowly becoming fucked up.

If they wanted Turkey to stop the trafficking of humans to Europe, they could have made them stop it. Not beg and bribe. Threaten the fuckers, with closure of all the borders and trade, if they didn't stop the traffic.
It would have stopped overnight.
The Turks know that Europe has virtually no leadership, and they are taking full advantage. You can't blame them for that.

But you can blame Merkel and the rest for their moronic behaviour.
What would Donald Trump have done? He would have kicked Erdogan's ass. Maybe we should invite him over, if he loses.
The US have one extreme, and Europe has the opposite.

Schengen is not extended to Turkey. Turkish citizens will not need a visa for short-time travels to the Schengen-Area. That is the plan.

Just like I as a German citizen can travel to the US for tourism or business trips without applying for a visa. There are still border controls etcs
