Because I don't base my social and political beliefs on what is best for me alone (particularly in the short term).

I'm sad about the state of the forum, but there's a little more to it than that. There's a part of me that is enjoying the challenge of not being in a forum that is predominantly left. But I'm struggling, and my comments like that are just me struggling out loud. I'm starting to get an idea what it must be like to be a Seth or you having a lot of people have a totally different belief system to me. So I'm trying to keep it in perspective, but it's proving to be a bit of a struggle after all these years of leftist forums (and my genuine belief that the left is the home of rationalism, and that reality has a left wing bias).

Most of the recent anti-left posting here has involved opposing authoritarian left ideas, such as posted by Exi. There remains a lot of moderate left arguments, for example in the thread about stupid consumers and con artist corporations...

Well, as I showed in that "right-wing echo chamber" thread, there's more "anti-leftists" than lefties here now. It still nowhere near the mirror of what it must be like for Seth, but in terms of the rationalist forums which have been strongly left, this one is definitely not that any more.

And I think you forget how well I can play with forum rules. What iritated rat skep and the Dawkins forum so much was how well I followed the rules. The moderators whined to Dawkins himself to get me banned. At rat skep I had 4 warnings, but it was about to drop to two within a week of them banning me in contradiction of the rules.
