Dyson unveils 'quieter' £299 hairdryer

Dyson has revealed its first personal care product - a hairdryer that it says is quieter and less damaging to hair than a conventional machine.
It is the first hairdryer powered by a miniaturised air pump in the handle, using the same airflow principles as Dyson's desk fan products.
The company said it had invested £50m in the development of the device.

However, the £299 price tag makes it at least twice as expensive as salon-grade dryers made by rival manufacturers.
"People do spend a lot of money to take care of their hair," said Thidathip Tawichai, analyst at Euromonitor International.

"People in developed markets usually look after their personal care more and buy more expensive products.

(continued, so quiet you can hardly feel the breeze as it lifts the money from your wallet/purse....) :read:

The best way of preventing hair damage is to not use a dryer. That's what I do.

I know people who will buy one. The same ones who hang their cordless vacuum on the living room wall. We used to call them yuppies, but I think they're now called posing counts.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Well that takes me back. The old hand-propelled carpet sweeper, eh...

Mum had one. Wasn't really much use...

We had one of them when I was young. We called it 'the Bistle'. I assume that was a brand. Like how we called the vacuum cleaner 'a Hoover', whether it was a Hoover or not.

I only had one hair dryer that was any use.
It was a Phillips, that you could attach a hose to, and just use it like a vac on blow.

It was quiet, and worked very well. I only ever used it for warming the bed and defrosting the freezer, but it was brill for both of those things.

I never had a bad Phillips appliance. It was always a name you could rely on.

Dyson are shite. They fall to bits.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.
